Temple Releases Prosperity Amulet Honoring Late Abbot

The Phra That In Thang Meditation Centre, located in Ban Gaen Thao, Mek Dam subdistrict, Phayakkhaphumi district, Maha Sarakham province, is currently headed by Phra Achan Kampanart Kittiphat. The centre was established over 40 years ago by Luang Por Saman Opasso, who discovered the serene forest location ideal for practice and collaborated with local residents to build it. The centrepiece is the Phra That In Thang stupa, designed by Luang Por Saman as a blend of Buddhist architecture inspired by Phra That Phanom, combined with Thai, ancient Khmer, and Balinese artistic styles. Construction took more than 30 years, completed gradually according to available resources and faith, which is how the meditation centre earned its name.

The stupa's striking beauty has made it an important spiritual tourism attraction in Phayakkhaphumi district, drawing visitors who come to pay respects and seek blessings, especially on weekends and public holidays. Luang Por Saman Opasso was born in 1945 in Udon Thani and was ordained in 1966 at Sri Phun Don Temple under the guidance of Phra Achan Pim Panyavaro. He studied Buddhist scripture and passed examinations in all three levels of the monastic curriculum before undertaking wandering practice across the Northeast in search of liberation following the Buddha's example.

After discovering the current location of Phra That In Thang when it was still dense forest, he worked together with local residents to establish the monastery, which now stands complete. Following his long service to Buddhism, Luang Por Saman passed away peacefully in 2006 at age 61 in his fortieth year as a monk. The meditation centre has many development plans that require resources. The disciples, led by Thanakorn Milathakho, have requested permission to cast auspicious amulets bearing the likeness of Luang Por Saman Opasso in his prosperity-blessing version. The proceeds will support the centre's ongoing development.

The amulets are oval-shaped medals featuring Luang Por Saman in a seated meditation posture on the obverse, with his name inscribed below. The reverse shows the centre's name beneath the medal's loop, with Buddhist blessings inscribed around the centre and the year 2569 (Buddhist Era) at the bottom, along with the location details. The amulets are being cast in various materials including gold by special order, silver with gold-plated face, silver with green enamel, pure silver, triple-metal alloy, alpaca, dark bronze, rainbow-finish bronze, and gold-plated bronze in quantities ranging from 19 to 1,999 pieces each.

The consecration ceremony was held at the meditation centre on September 9, 2569 (2026), attended by venerable teachers and abbots known for their spiritual accomplishments, including Luang Pu Mahacila Siridhanto from Phra That Muanthon Temple in Kalasin province and Kruba Krishana Inthavanno from Nakhon Ratchasima province. Given the pure intentions behind the amulets' creation, the participating senior monks were confident in their spiritual efficacy.
