Thai Airways CEO Chai Eamsiri said the airline’s board removed him from his post on Thursday, noting he had sensed the move was coming. The board of Thai Airways International Plc voted to dismiss him as chief executive and set up a fact‑finding committee to look into delayed baggage and flight disruptions. Chai was invited to the meeting to hear the decision, but he said no reason was given and no timeline was provided. Speaking to Khaosod at 14:00 on 2 October, he said the board informed him of its resolution to end his tenure and launch an inquiry into the baggage and flight‑delay problems. “I’m not upset about leaving the CEO post; I had already come to terms with it,” he said. “I had sensed it coming for a while, even before the baggage issues arose.” Chai added that he had worked at Thai Airways for 41 years and that staff were aware of his record. He plans to take a break and spend time with his family after enduring heavy criticism on social media in recent days, which he said particularly affected his children.
