Thai athletes have begun arriving in Nagoya for the Asian Games, though heavy rain is hampering training sessions and travel to venues as more delegations prepare to depart this week.
Thai athletes have begun arriving in Nagoya, Japan, for the 20th Asian Games. Multiple sports delegations including men's and women's football, volleyball, hockey, modern pentathlon, cricket, and basketball have already reached the city. Six additional sports—takraw, soft tennis, shooting, water polo, beach volleyball, and sailing—are scheduled to depart on the night of September 14, 2026. Air Chief Marshal Abhiwat Srivatthanaya, head of the Thai delegation, said all preparations for receiving the athletes have been completed with full cooperation from Japanese hosts. However, he expressed concern about the current weather conditions in Nagoya, where daily rainfall could impact travel to competition venues and training sessions.
