Thai Men's Football Prepares for Hong Kong in Asian Games 2026
Thailand's men's football team prepares for their second Asian Games 2026 group match against Hong Kong on September 20, following a 3-2 opening win over Kyrgyzstan in Japan.
Thailand's men's football team continued intensive training on September 18 at Itsutsugaoka Sports Square in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, to correct mistakes from their opening 3-2 victory over Kyrgyzstan ahead of their second group match against Hong Kong in the 2026 Asian Games. Hong Kong lost 0-2 to Japan in their opener. The training session focused on reviewing play patterns and addressing errors from the first match. Midfielder Kritphakorn Saengsawat arrived and immediately joined the squad.
Kritphakorn said he was in good physical condition despite minor fatigue from travel. "I watched our first game against Kyrgyzstan and I have to praise everyone on the team for fighting back to win," he stated. "I'm very eager to play for Thailand's national team. We all have one goal in the Hong Kong match: to collect three points and advance to the next round."
"I need to adapt to my teammates as quickly as possible, and I think another 1-2 days will help us understand each other better," Kritphakorn added. "Our goal is to go as deep in the tournament as we can. I ask the fans to cheer us on."
Thailand will face Hong Kong in their second group A match of the 2026 Asian Games on September 20 at Toyota Stadium in Japan at 2:00 p.m., with live coverage on Channel 32 and the AIS PLAY application.
