Thai Women's Football Squad Prepares for Taiwan at Asian Games
Thailand's women's football team trains in Japan ahead of their September 17 Asian Games match against Taiwan, aiming to bounce back after losing to Japan in their opening Group E game.
Thailand's women's football team held continuous training sessions at Iwata Sports Stadium in Japan on September 15 to prepare for their second Group E match at the 20th Asian Games 2026 against Taiwan. In the tournament's opening round, Thailand lost to Japan while Taiwan defeated Vietnam. The top team from each group, second-place finishers, and the two best third-place teams will advance to the semi-finals in this round-robin format.
Head coach Alfred Neti Sritongintorn led an intensive training session lasting one hour and 30 minutes, focusing on physical recovery and correcting mistakes from both attacking and defensive play in the previous match, as well as set-piece execution.
Midfielder Chatchawai Rodtong from Bangkok United said: "We made many mistakes in the last game, including poor ball distribution. We know Japan is a strong team with high standards, and we need to improve to match their level."
"All of us still have strong morale and are ready to prove ourselves in the remaining two matches. Taiwan is also a quality team, so it should be an exciting game. I believe everyone is prepared to perform their roles. They have good team coordination and managed to win their first match, so it will be a challenging game."
"Our goal is definitely to get three points to benefit Thai football. We want to thank all Thai football fans for their support."
Thailand will face Taiwan at Shizuoka Stadium on September 17 at 2:00 p.m., with live coverage on Channel 30 and the AIS PLAY application.
