Thai Police Chief Orders Nationwide Flood Response
Thailand's national police chief ordered a coordinated nationwide flood response on September 26, with all units deployed to evacuate victims, manage traffic, and assist in heavily affected regions facing severe rainfall through month-end.
National Police Commissioner General Kittarat Panpreechir chaired an emergency flood situation meeting on September 26, 2569, bringing together deputy commissioners, regional police commanders from zones 1 through 9, and relevant agencies. The meeting aimed to establish urgent protocols for assisting flood victims, particularly in areas covered by Bangkok Metropolitan Police, Provincial Police Region 1, 2, and 7, which face heavy to very heavy rain through September 28 as declared by the meteorological department.
General Kittarat ordered all units to execute relief operations with maximum efficiency under the national disaster prevention and mitigation plans for 2564-2570 and the police office plan for 2567. He stressed a clear framework for before, during, and after-incident procedures, delegating oversight to Deputy Commissioner Samran Nualma. All commanders were instructed to monitor personnel welfare and support field operations across all aspects.
Specific directives included deploying volunteer teams for victim evacuation to safe areas, establishing field kitchens, managing traffic, handling disabled vehicles, coordinating with other agencies, and publicizing route warnings and rest stop information. Once the situation stabilizes, units must prepare for full-scale recovery and rehabilitation efforts, with all officers called to assist the public to their utmost capability during the national emergency.
