Thai Table Tennis Pair Wins Historic Bronze at Asian Games
Thailand's women's doubles table tennis pair secured a historic bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, marking the country's first individual medal in the sport at the continental competition in nearly seven decades.
The women's doubles table tennis semi-final at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya 2026 took place on September 28 at Sky Hall Toyota. Thai players Suthasini Sawatriboowat and Orawan Paranang, ranked world number two in doubles, lost 0-4 in games (11-6, 11-8, 11-5, 11-6) to China's Wang Manyi, world number one, and Kuai Man, world number four in singles. China advanced to the final to face Japan's top-ranked pair Miwa Harimoto and Hina Hayata.
However, this bronze medal represents historic success for Thai table tennis. It marks the first medal Thailand has won in Asian Games table tennis in 68 years. Prior to this, Thai table tennis had never won any medal at the Asian Games since the sport was first included in the competition in 1958, until winning a bronze medal in team events at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
