Thailand's Suthasini Sawettabut and Orawan Paranang won historic bronze in women's doubles table tennis at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, the country's first individual medal in the sport in 68 years.
Thailand's Suthasini Sawettabut and Orawan Paranang secured a historic bronze medal in women's doubles table tennis at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya 2026 after losing to China's Wang Manyu and Kuai Man in the semifinals. The semifinal was held at Sky Hall Toyota, with the Thai pair, ranked No. 2 in the world, beaten 0-4 by China's top-ranked Wang and Kuai, who is ranked No. 4 in singles. The Chinese pair won 11-6, 11-8, 11-5 and 11-6 to advance to the final, where they will face Japan's world No. 1 pair Miwa Harimoto and Hina Hayata. Despite the semifinal defeat, Suthasini and Orawan secured Thailand's historic bronze medal—the country's first Asian Games table tennis medal in 68 years. Table tennis made its Asian Games debut in 1958, but Thailand had never won a medal in the sport until the men's team claimed bronze at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou. The women's doubles bronze in Aichi-Nagoya therefore marks another milestone for Thai table tennis at the continental games.
