Thailand U-23 Returns Home After Asian Games Campaign
Thailand's U-23 football team returned home after the Asian Games, reaching the quarterfinals before losing to China despite impressive wins over Kyrgyzstan and Hong Kong in group play.
On September 28, 2025, Thailand's U-23 men's football team arrived home at Suvarnabhumi International Airport after completing their Asian Games campaign. The team advanced to the quarterfinals after finishing as runners-up in Group A, before losing to China, the Group B champions, in the knockout stage.
Upon arrival, head coach Wang Thawachchai said: "It's regrettable. I wanted to take the team as deep as possible in this tournament, at least to the final four, but we couldn't match China's strength so we lost. However, being in the same group as Japan, the Asian champions, meant we faced quality players, just like China who are runners-up in Asia—they were very strong."
He continued: "Our victories against Kyrgyzstan and Hong Kong showed the young players' determination. Even though we fell behind in both matches, they were committed to equalizing and winning, which helped us advance."
"For those players for whom this was their final youth tournament, I want to tell them to believe that the senior national team is waiting. Give your best performances at your clubs. I believe the senior national team coach is watching everyone's future. You need to take care of yourselves and perform at your best."
