Arunwan Paranang, Thailand’s women’s table tennis star, produced an outstanding performance at the China Smash 2026 held at Beijing’s Shoukangyuan Stadium, overcoming the situation to defeat world No.1 Chinese player Sun Yingsha in a gripping 3-1 match in the women’s singles last‑32 round, advancing to the last 16.

She began the match strongly, but Sun Yingsha used her consistency in the final points to clinch the opening game 11-8, taking a 1-0 lead. The Thai player stayed focused and struck back immediately in game two, playing aggressively and accurately to win 11-4, leveling the match at 1-1.

In game three, after a tightly contested battle, Arunwan remained steadfast in the crucial moments and edged a 12-10 victory to take a 2-1 lead.

Game four proved the highlight of the contest when Arunwan fell behind as far as 2-8 and was still trailing 8-10 late in the game, facing a must‑win situation. Nevertheless, “Tip” displayed determination and mental fortitude, rallying to win four consecutive points and astonishingly overturning the deficit to defeat Sun Yingsha 12-10, sealing the match 3-1 with the scoreline 8‑11, 11‑4, 12‑10, 12‑10.

Thanks to this victory, Arunwan advances to the last 16 where she will meet Japanese women’s table tennis player Honoka Hashimoto on October 8, 2026 at 18:10 Thailand time in Beijing, China.
