Thai Tekball Pair Wins Gold at Asian Games
Thailand's tekball champions Supawalee Wongkamjohn and Patpongse Detcharoen won gold in mixed doubles at the Asian Games in Nagoya, defeating Japan's pair with dominant performances in both sets.
Thailand's tekball competition at the 20th Asian Games took place on September 20 at Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center in the finals. The Thai tekball team advanced to all three finals—mixed doubles, women's doubles, and men's doubles. In the mixed doubles category, reigning world champions Supawalee Wongkamjohn and Patpongse Detcharoen faced Japan's Yuina Sakamoto and Akinori Wasee. The Thai pair dominated the first set with a convincing 12-4 victory. Although Japan mounted a stronger challenge in the second set, Thailand's champions proved too strong, winning 12-5 to claim gold. Supawalee and Patpongse secured the first medal for the Thai tekball team and the first medal for the entire Thai athletic delegation at these Games.
