Thai Woman Arrested at Japan Airport With Ice in Coffee Packets
A 28-year-old Thai woman was arrested at Fukuoka Airport in Japan on July 12 after methamphetamine was discovered in coffee packets she was unknowingly delivering as a courier through a LINE-based delivery service.
On July 26, parents Thanasak, 53, and Kanyawee, 45, filed a complaint stating their daughter Chudatip, 28, was arrested at Fukuoka Airport in Japan on July 12 after authorities discovered methamphetamine concealed in coffee packets in her luggage. Chudatip had traveled to Japan with her boyfriend Saravut, 28, and a friend as part-time couriers for a LINE group called THIENTHIEN SHOP, which delivers packages to Thais living in Japan.
Saravut explained that on July 10, a customer using the LINE account "ing ing" hired them to deliver a sealed 12-kilogram package without opening it. The package arrived during inspection at Fukuoka Airport, where Chudatip was detained while Saravut and the friend were released after questioning. On July 22, the family learned from the Thai consulate that ice (methamphetamine) had been found inside coffee packets within the shipment. The mysterious customer "ing ing" never collected their package, blocked all contact, and had used the account name "HO THI MAI" to transfer 3,600 baht in payment.
Kanyawee stated the family immediately reported the incident to Bang Bua Thong police station and provided all evidence to investigators. They stress that from childhood, Chudatip showed no involvement with drugs and urge authorities to investigate the person who smuggled the drugs into the package and whether this is connected to previous criminal networks.
