Thai Women's Football Eyes Knockout Spot Against Vietnam

Thailand's women's national football team held a training session on September 19, 2026, in Osaka, Japan, as they prepare for their third Group E match of the 20th Asian Games against Vietnam. Both Thailand and Vietnam are winless after two matches, and the winner will advance to the knockout round as the best third-placed team. Coach Alfred Nettipong Sritongintorn emphasized correcting errors in both attack and defense while refining tactical details for the Vietnam encounter.

Middfielder Rinyaphat Munldong from Chonburi Women's Football Club said the first two matches fell short of their goals but expressed joy and pride at playing in her first major Asian championship. "We encourage each other and discuss the mistakes we need to fix. The senior players tell us to be brave, play like ourselves, and show our best potential. Vietnam is already a rival at the Southeast Asian level, and whenever we meet them it's always close. It comes down to how careful we are and how few errors we make," she said.

Regarding the match against Vietnam, Rinyaphat added there is no pressure despite the single objective of winning to advance. "If we follow the playing style we've trained for, it won't feel that pressurizing. My personal goal is to win and advance as the best third-placed team.
