Thailand's cabinet has approved the first deportation regulation, defining six categories of violations that will result in immediate deportation of foreign nationals. Government spokesperson Rachada Thanadirek announced the cabinet's decision on July 14, 2025, at Government House, following Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilpraphan's proposal. The six violation categories are: (1) unlawful entry or residence in Thailand; (2) working without authorization; (3) operating a business without proper permission; (4) forging or using forged government documents; (5) committing crimes punishable by imprisonment of three years or more; and (6) serving as an organizer, facilitator, or supporter of any of the above violations. The regulation aims to streamline the deportation process for illegal migrants and criminals. Government agencies, particularly the Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Interior, will coordinate to notify relevant authorities and ensure swift deportation. The Interior Ministry will issue deportation orders and arrange transportation back to the deportee's home country. If nationality cannot be confirmed, the foreigner will be deported to the country where they most recently resided before entering Thailand. For cases involving stateless persons or international organizations, diplomatic channels will be used, with responsibility for all care costs borne by the respective country or organization.
