The Thai Volleyball Association has announced the roster for Thailand's women's volleyball team heading to the 2026 Asian Championship in China, where they will pursue a berth at the 2028 Olympic Games. The team will compete in Tianjin, China, from August 21-30, 2026.

Thailand has been placed in Group B alongside Australia, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan. The team departs Monday, August 17, 2026, on Thai Airways flight TG 614 at 10:00 a.m., arriving at Beijing International Airport at 3:45 p.m. local time.

The abbot of Wat Pa Adulyaram is urging people involved in an ongoing dispute to stay calm, control their emotions, and speak carefully. He has confirmed the temple and monastic order will not file counter-lawsuits regardless of how many cases they face.

On August 15, 2025, reporters visited the temple in the Kangsadal community in Khon Kaen, where monks and relatives continued normal religious activities under strict police and administrative security measures. Monks maintained their morning alms rounds, and community members continued their daily practice of offering food to the monks.

Abbot Phra Kru Adulasart Nithes said that everything that arises must pass away, and he wants the public to remain calm and not stress over the situation. Even he himself is not worried, he said, so he does not want supporters to be anxious. He asked everyone to smile and be at ease, noting that obstacles are a natural part of life for both the monastic and lay communities.

The abbot said that if someone speaks unkindly, those are their words alone, since everyone has a voice and can speak. He called on all parties to view each other as fellow humans, offer forgiveness, and recognize that disagreement is ordinary and can happen to anyone.

"Let the past remain in the past and not be spoken of," he said. "Right now, I ask all supporters to be at ease and not overly stressed. I have heard that local residents living near the temple have followed this news so closely that their eyes are red from crying, which makes me feel compassion for them. I ask that you not be overstressed by what has happened. I confirm that the temple is not going anywhere and I am not going anywhere. We continue to wish to provide warmth, assistance, and spiritual guidance to all our supporters."

The abbot recalled that during the lower court and appeals court hearings, the opposing side brought 60 to 70 people each time, while his side brought only the abbot, deputy abbot, assistant abbot, and temple staff. When he attempted to speak with them, they fled and refused to speak with him, making dialogue and mutual understanding impossible.

He noted that without communication, it is impossible to know the other side's thinking, actions, or approach to managing the matter.

"I ask Pha Da to control her emotions, her words, and remain calm with all matters," he said. "She should not speak hastily or rapidly as if she cannot catch her breath, but rather speak slowly and consider each matter carefully. It exhausts everyone. The abbot has compassion for the media as well. May blessings be upon all."

The Thai Meteorological Department issued its first severe weather alert warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across northern Thailand, with significant impacts expected August 18–21, 2025. Residents are urged to be vigilant against flooding and flash floods. On August 15, the department forecasted continued heavy rainfall in scattered areas, with very heavy rain concentrated in the eastern region due to a monsoon trough passing through Myanmar and upper northern Thailand feeding into a low-pressure zone over northern Vietnam, combined with a strengthening southwest monsoon system covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. A 21-year-old student from Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna in Lampang was riding a motorcycle across provinces with two friends returning home to Jun District, Phayao, when he collided with the rear of a trailer truck that had pulled over with a blown tire. He sustained critical injuries and died at Ngao Hospital.

On August 14, 2025, the Ngao Rescue Association in Lampang received notification from the 1669 emergency center about a motorcycle-trailer collision with an injured person in the Suan Sak area (opposite the white dirt pit) in Ban Huad subdistrict, Ngao District, Lampang Province.

Rescue workers found a motorcycle overturned at the rear of the trailer with a teenage male trapped beneath it. Emergency responders provided immediate assistance and first aid before coordinating with Ngao Hospital's rescue vehicle to transport the victim for treatment. Medical examination revealed a deformed right leg from the thigh through the hip, head trauma, and multiple broken teeth. The victim was identified as Rachantor, age 21, a student at Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna in Lampang.

According to witness accounts, the trailer had suffered a blown tire and pulled to the roadside. The vehicle was beginning to move back out onto the roadway when Rachantor was riding his motorcycle with three companions heading home. The first motorcycle spotted the trailer and managed to swerve around it safely, but Rachantor's motorcycle, traveling behind, could not avoid collision and struck the rear of the trailer at high speed, causing severe injuries.

After the accident, police from Ngao Station investigated and notified relatives to come to the hospital to monitor the victim's condition. However, Rachantor was later pronounced dead at the hospital, leaving his family and fellow students in deep sorrow.

A 60-year-old woman died from injuries sustained in a collision between a tour bus and a motorcycle at Lam Sai junction in Phuket's Thalang district on August 14, 2025. Thalang Police received a report of the accident on the Pa Khlok-Muang Mai Road and coordinated with rescue officials to respond.

At the scene, officers found a red-and-grey Honda motorcycle registered in Phuket, ridden by Sai Jai, 60, who was seriously injured. Rescue personnel immediately transported her to Thalang Hospital for treatment. A Bangkok-registered tour bus driven by Abhinun, 45, was also involved in the collision.

Investigation revealed that both vehicles were traveling from Pa Khlong Chee Phop toward Route 4027. The bus was ahead when it turned right toward Pa Khlok. At the same moment, the motorcycle attempted to overtake on the right side, causing the two vehicles to collide. Sai Jai sustained critical injuries from the impact.

Police documented the scene, photographed evidence, and conducted a blood alcohol test on bus driver Abhinun, which returned 0 milligrams per cent. A preliminary drug screening also tested negative. The victim later died at Thalang Hospital from her injuries. Officers performed an autopsy and gathered additional evidence as the investigation continues.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Interior Minister gave an interview at 21:15 on 14 August 2025 following his role as chairman at a Buddhist memorial service for the late Kriang Kalptinun, former Deputy Interior Minister, held in Ubon Ratchathani province. The event brought together four prime ministers: Anutin Charnvirakul, Thaksin Shinawatra, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, and Somchai Wongsawat, a former prime minister. Before Thaksin departed, video footage showed Anutin making a respectful wai to Thaksin.

Anutin explained that he was obliged to wai Thaksin out of respect, as he had served as a minister in Thaksin's cabinet since 2004 and was the last minister to receive Thaksin's patronage. When asked what he discussed with Thaksin, Anutin said they did not discuss anything of substance, only exchanged greetings and personal inquiries. He also had the chance to meet with Paetongtarn and Somchai, both longtime acquaintances.

When asked if he was pleased to meet with all four prime ministers, Anutin said that the Pheu Thai party is now a coalition partner in government, and everyone is already well acquainted. Regarding how the meeting would smooth government operations, Anutin stated that operations have been running smoothly all along.
