Thailand Sees 423 Foreign Film Projects, 7.5 Billion Baht Revenue
Thailand’s Department of Tourism announced that foreign film productions in the first nine months of 2026 exceeded 423 projects, generating over 7.51 billion baht in revenue and setting a new record. The United States, United Kingdom, and India led in both project count and earnings, with incentives like a 30% cash rebate drawing global interest. Officials forecast that continued activity could push yearly earnings past 8 billion baht, reinforcing Thailand’s status as a premier filming destination.
The Department of Tourism disclosed that from January to September 2026, there were 423 foreign film shoots in Thailand, with projected income of 7.51 billion baht. The top ten countries by number of projects and revenue were:
1. United States – 38 projects, 2.379 billion baht 2. United Kingdom – 27 projects, 1.679 billion baht 3. Finland – 1 project, 448 million baht 4. Hong Kong Special Administrative Region – 18 projects, 382 million baht 5. Germany – 15 projects, 379 million baht 6. India – 44 projects, 341 million baht 7. Spain – 3 projects, 336 million baht 8. China – 52 projects, 253.23 million baht 9. Singapore – 24 projects, 253.20 million baht 10. France – 17 projects, 185 million baht
Jaturon Phakdeewanich emphasized that Thailand’s diverse locations, experienced crew, infrastructure, and promotional measures have made it a trusted destination for global filmmakers. He noted that the department will keep advancing its support through the Thailand Film Office, aiming to position Thailand as a world‑class filming hub.
Looking ahead, the Department of Tourism expects continued activity in the final quarter, which could push annual revenue past the 2023 record of 7.717 billion baht and potentially reach between 8 and 10 billion baht, reinforcing Thailand’s reputation as a “Filming Paradise” and a key destination for the global film industry.
