Thailand Sweeps Mongolia in Asian Games Volleyball Opener
Thailand's women's volleyball team swept Mongolia 3-0 in their opening match of the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, with coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai resting several key players in the dominant performance.
Thailand's women's volleyball team made a winning start to the 2026 Asian Games after sweeping Mongolia 3-0 in their opening Group C match in Nagoya on Wednesday. The women's volleyball competition at the 20th Asian Games is being held in Nagoya, Japan, from 16 to 22 September 2026.
Thailand entered the match with a dominant record against Mongolia, having won all three previous encounters in straight sets. Head coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai, known as Coach Aot, rested several key players but still fielded a strong starting lineup featuring Kanyarat Khunmuang, Sasipaporn Chandavisets, Natchanicha Jaisan, Ajcharaporn Kongyot, Chatchu-on Moksri and Kaewkalaya Kamulthala, with Piyanut Pannoy starting as libero.
Despite leaving veteran regulars Pornpun Guedpard, Pimpichaya Kokram and Thatdao Nuekjang out of the starting lineup, Thailand controlled the match and secured a comfortable straight-set victory with scores of 25-12, 25-18 and 25-18. Thailand will face Kyrgyzstan on 17 September at 17:00, with live coverage available on PPTV HD 36.
