Thailand will disqualify all 5,925 local government exam candidates caught cheating, with no exceptions, whether already hired or awaiting appointment, according to the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Department of Local Administration.

On August 6, 2025, at the Ministry of Interior, Nirat Pongsitthikul, Deputy Permanent Secretary and acting director of the Department of Local Administration, stated that all 5,925 candidates who cheated on local government employee exams and had their scores altered will face action without exception. Whether already hired or not, those with tampered scores will be removed or not appointed.
Those not yet appointed but on candidate lists will not be called if scores were altered, and they will be terminated. The total of 5,925 individuals with altered scores will all be subject to action. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has directed clear policy implementation against all misconduct with no exceptions.
Nirat explained the timeline: On August 5, the Central Local Government Employee Examination Committee concluded its review of 5,925 cases where announced scores did not match answer sheets and approved a corrected candidate list.
Today, the central committee acknowledged the 5,925 names and will notify local government units to announce the corrected list. Next, provincial-level local government employee committees will be informed and notify their respective local government organizations. Finally, each local government organization will remove the incorrect names and appoint candidates from the corrected list in proper order according to law.
