The Thailand women's national football team continued preparations for the 20th Asian Games (2026) on September 16, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. Thailand time at the Sumagoai Resort fitness facility in Shizuoka. The team trained ahead of their second group E match against Chinese Taipei. Thailand lost their opening game to Japan, while Chinese Taipei defeated Vietnam. The group stage uses a round-robin format, with group champions, runners-up, and the two best third-place finishers from three groups advancing to the knockout round.
Coach Alfred Netiphong Srithonintor modified the training program due to heavy rainfall, moving the session indoors to the fitness center for one hour. Defender Phismai Sonsai, who plays for Taichung Blue Whale in the Chinese Taipei league, said: "Everyone is preparing quite well. We are ready and our bodies are getting stronger after recovering yesterday. Chinese Taipei's squad has fairly high-quality players, including two players who changed nationality from Japan, making them stronger as a team. They have trained together since the Asian Cup."
"With six years of experience playing in the Chinese Taipei league, I am familiar with many of their players. I have shared the strengths and weaknesses of each player with the younger teammates so we can handle them. Our advantage is teamwork—we need to play our game and fight together," Phismai explained.
"Of course, we must get three points in tomorrow's game. We want to win. We ask for the support of all Thai football fans. The women's national team will give our best to bring home those three points," she added.
Thailand women's football team will compete in the 20th Asian Games group E second match against Chinese Taipei on September 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Thailand time at Shizuoka Stadium Ecopa. The match will be broadcast live on MCOT HD 30 and the AIS PLAY application.
