Tiger Black was knocked down late in the first round but stormed back to knock out Stephen Irwin in the second round, earning a bonus of nearly 1.7 million baht at ONE Fight Night 45.

ONE Championship delivered the excitement as always at ONE Fight Night 45 on the morning of Saturday, July 18. Two Thai representatives, Tiger Black T. Pranburi49 and Black Panther, did not disappoint fans, combining to bring victories home.

Tiger Black stepped into the ring looking to restore his form against Stephen Irwin, a scrappy Scottish striker making his world-level debut under Muay Thai rules in the flyweight division (125-135 lbs). Tiger Black opened aggressively but had a moment of vulnerability when caught by Irwin's right hand, sending him to the canvas for a count late in the first round. He accelerated in the second round, seizing the opportunity to land a straight left that floored his opponent for a count, then sealed the victory with a powerful left elbow, delivering a dominant knockout win. He claimed a 50,000 US dollar bonus (nearly 1.7 million baht at current exchange rates).

Meanwhile, Black Panther from Songkhla faced Sean Climaco, a Filipino-American striker, under Muay Thai rules in the flyweight division. The first two rounds featured an entertaining exchange of techniques, with Black Panther continuously landing his right kick combinations. Although he was shaken by a barrage of Climaco's punches late in the third round, he held firm and won by unanimous decision based on his superior overall performance, extending his winning streak to six consecutive victories.

In the main event, American striker Luke Lixsey opened scoring to make a comeback against Mohamed Younes Rabah, a powerful Algerian fighter, under Muay Thai rules in the featherweight division (145-155 lbs). Throughout the bout, both exchanged strikes and competed for timing entertainingly, but Luke used superior positioning to control the fight and won by unanimous decision, successfully returning to the path of victory.

The one fighter who finished aggressively and caught the attention of the boss Chatri Sityodthorn while claiming a bonus was Tiger Black T. Pranburi49, who pocketed 50,000 US dollars—roughly 1.7 million baht.

Thailand Tightens E-Bidding Rules: Payment Due Same Day
18 Jul Khaosod

Thailand's Comptroller General's Department has issued strict new guidelines requiring bidders to pay for electronic bidding documents on the day of submission only, with late payments resulting in immediate disqualification and forfeiture of bidding rights. On July 18, 2025, Comptroller General Patricia Mongkolvanicha announced that the department previously allowed five business days for payment after submission, but this led to unsuccessful bidders refusing to pay, often leaving only a single qualified bidder and forcing government agencies to cancel and re-tender contracts. The new directive, effective from July 20, 2025, establishes four key rules: (1) bidders must pay and submit payment documentation on the submission day only; (2) corporate bidders must pay from corporate bank accounts and individuals from personal accounts; (3) if a tender is cancelled without re-tendering, buyers may request refunds within 15 days, but if re-tendering occurs, previous buyers receive new documents without refunds; and (4) payments made on any other day or time are eligible for refund. The Comptroller General stated the new rules address chronic delays in government procurement caused by non-payment of bid document fees, which disrupted budget spending timelines and affects all tenders posted on the e-GP system from July 20, 2025 onward.

A motorist who stopped to help an injured motorcycle accident victim was accused by the injured rider's partner of causing the crash, leaving him frustrated after his good deed was met with suspicion.

A post shared online by Yuttapoom Sanyawichai recounted his experience stopping to help a motorcycle accident victim, only to be suspected by the injured person's partner. He humorously concluded he "almost committed a wrongful act by helping."

The helper's detailed account: A motorcycle crashed 30-40 meters ahead. He immediately pulled over, activated hazard lights, and a van driver behind him also braked to help. The rider was safely moved to the roadside with a deformed leg. The van driver helped move the damaged motorcycle off the road. He called an ambulance and emergency services on multiple channels. The conscious victim called his partner, who rushed to the scene from behind Siam Rangsit. He and another passing motorcyclist flagged down traffic to prevent further accidents. When the ambulance arrived, he spoke with the injured rider, saying, "You're lucky nothing hit you from behind—we braked in time and came to help." The rider thanked him and explained the fall was due to a dog food bag leaking liquid that caused him to lose control.

However, the injured rider's partner became defensive, accusing him: "Who helped us? Are you sure? You didn't hit my friend and then pretend to help?" He left the scene shortly after, along with the other motorcyclist, with the final line reflecting his frustration about being suspected despite his good intentions.

Prime Minister Anuthin Charnvirakul and Foreign Minister gathered 140 Thai business executives in Chengdu on July 18 for a Prime Minister-Thai Private Sector Luncheon, bringing together leaders from finance, food, energy, industrial parks, healthcare, and tourism sectors investing in China. Anuthin expressed satisfaction with the visit and stated that the government's official trip has clear and substantial goals, particularly promoting trade and investment in new industries between Thailand and China.

Following his July 17 meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, where Xi confirmed that Thailand and China are "one family," Anuthin will hold discussions with Premier Li Qiang on July 19 to request support for Thai business operators in China. The day's activities include opening a Board of Investment office in Chengdu and hosting the Thailand-China (Sichuan) Investment and Economic Forum, signaling Thailand's serious commitment to elevating local-level trade cooperation.

Anuthin assigned deputy prime ministers, the foreign minister, and other senior officials to discuss opportunities and challenges facing Thai private enterprises in China, particularly in Sichuan Province. The prime minister emphasized that government and private sector must work together under principles of good governance and transparency, with the state's role being to facilitate business by removing legal obstacles and accelerating free trade agreement negotiations with key trading partners.

Anuthin thanked Thai business leaders for driving the national economy and reiterated that while government creates opportunities, the private sector generates success. "If we work together as Team Thailand with a shared goal," he said, "we will not only grow in the Chinese market but step into the global market strongly and sustainably."

Rescue teams, wildlife officials, village leaders, and nearly 100 residents launched an intensive search after Kittamet, 22, known as Pal, went missing in Dong Yai Forest on July 11, 2026, while foraging with friends. The search proved difficult due to dense jungle and dangerous wildlife, but teams continued for days without locating him. His parents Somkiat, 48, and Duangmanee, 49, joined the search efforts and eventually consulted a local fortune teller who reassured them their son was still alive, giving them hope despite the extensive unsuccessful search efforts. Late in the evening, a couple from Sarakham subdistrict in Sisaket province discovered a young man matching Pal's description in poor condition with scratches across his body, and provided shelter before alerting national park officials to contact his family.

Pal had traveled approximately 60 kilometers from Dong Yai Forest to the location where he was found, which his family regarded as miraculous. When questioned, Pal explained that he had separated from his friend to relieve himself, became disoriented, and spent seven days trying to find his way out of the forest. During those days, he survived on water collected in elephant footprints and plant vine sap without any solid food, despite encountering wild elephants multiple times. He eventually encountered villagers who helped him, and expressed overwhelming gratitude to his parents and everyone involved in the search, vowing never to venture into the forest again.

Pal's mother expressed her joy and relief, stating that although many people had searched extensively without success, consulting the fortune teller who confirmed her son was alive kept hope alive until his miraculous return.

Red-Shirt Ally Laments Thaksin's Use By Foreign Leaders

A former Pheu Thai MP criticizes Thailand for failing to utilize Thaksin's economic expertise while neighboring countries recruit him as an adviser, as supporters plan a birthday gathering to show encouragement.

Red-Shirt Ally Laments Thaksin's Use By Foreign Leaders
18 Jul Khaosod

Worrachai Hema, former Samut Prakan MP from the Pheu Thai Party, commented on former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's recent visits to ASEAN leaders in Malaysia and Indonesia. Hema noted that Thaksin was invited by these leaders, rather than seeking meetings himself, indicating that these encounters create benefits for their countries, particularly Indonesia, where President Prabowo Subianto invited Thaksin to serve as an adviser, recognizing his knowledge and experience.

Hema expressed concern that Thailand's situation differs markedly. Although Thaksin is Thai and a former prime minister credited as one of Thailand's most capable leaders—having resolved an economic crisis and raised GDP growth from 1% to 5% in two years—his talents are not being utilized by his own country. Since the coup that removed him from power, Thailand's economic growth has declined steadily, with neighboring countries like Myanmar and Cambodia now surpassing Thai GDP. Thaksin also ranks as the former prime minister who has faced the most hardship.

"Thailand faces a problem where talented people are excluded from solving the nation's problems, and other countries recruit them to work while Thailand gains no benefit," Hema stated. He called on red-shirt supporters who still admire Thaksin to gather on July 26 at Jum-Dad restaurant, Pom Yang Kham Road, kilometer 6, Soi Ram Intra 40, from 11 a.m. onwards, to celebrate Thaksin's 77th birthday and show him encouragement. "Anyone who wishes to come and offer support is welcome to join," Hema said.

Thai Navy Denies Vessel in Oman Incident Was Thai-Flagged
18 Jul Khaosod

The Royal Thai Navy has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that a vessel involved in an incident in the Gulf of Oman was Thai-flagged, confirming that no Thai ship was involved.

Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiyaphan, spokesman for the Royal Thai Navy, said on 18 July 2026 that the Navy's Operations Centre coordinated with the Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Center (Thai-MECC) Operations Centre and the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) of the Marine Department to verify the vessel through ship-tracking systems.

The investigation confirmed that the vessel shown in media reports was not registered under the Thai flag.

The Navy also checked the status of the only Thai merchant vessel currently operating in the Gulf of Oman. After coordinating with the ship's safety officer, authorities confirmed that both the vessel and its crew were safe and continuing normal operations.

The Royal Thai Navy urged the public to rely on information from government agencies and credible news sources. It added that authorities would continue to closely monitor maritime security developments and coordinate with relevant agencies to safeguard Thai vessels and the country's maritime interests.

Ex-Pheu Thai Spokesman Urges Review of Poor Card Eligibility Criteria

Ex-Pheu Thai Spokesman Urges Review of Poor Card Eligibility Criteria
18 Jul Khaosod

Former Pheu Thai Party spokesman Porampon Nopurit has raised alarm over data inconsistencies in the state welfare card eligibility verification, which has resulted in many citizens being disqualified. While he acknowledges that verification is necessary for fair and transparent aid distribution, fieldwork and public feedback across the country reveal numerous cases where data does not match reality, causing eligible people to lose their chance at support. He is urging the government to expedite a comprehensive review of criteria, improve the database, and facilitate appeals to ensure assistance reaches the truly disadvantaged fairly and widely.

Porampon highlighted specific problems including vehicle ownership data that doesn't reflect current reality—some people no longer own cars listed in their names, or sold vehicles without updating registration. Others were disqualified because children's names were fraudulently claimed as dependents for tax deductions, raising fears that genuinely struggling citizens are falling through the cracks.

Feedback from across multiple provinces shows many applicants are devastated, with some in tears upon learning their disqualification. Although the government extended the appeals deadline to July 31, practical barriers persist: traveling to agencies, obtaining documents, and gathering evidence require time and money that poor, elderly, and remote-area residents often cannot afford.

Porampon warned that without urgent action to review criteria, update data, and ease appeals, potentially millions of eligible citizens could miss out on state assistance due to technical constraints, even as they struggle with rising living costs. He stressed that a strong government ensures deserving people access help quickly, fairly, and comprehensively—not one that simply disqualifies the most applicants. He emphasized that when ordinary citizens are cared for, grassroots purchasing power grows, strengthening the entire economy.

Police Raid Secret 24-Hour Drug Den Disguised as Gaming Arcade

Police raided a secret 24-hour drug den disguised as a gaming arcade in Bangkok's Huai Khwang District on July 18, arresting 11 suspects and seizing drugs, cash, and valuables worth approximately 300,000 baht.

Police Raid Secret 24-Hour Drug Den Disguised as Gaming Arcade
18 Jul Khaosod

On July 18, 2025, the Crime Suppression Division and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration executed a raid on a secret drug den operating as an underground bar in a four-story commercial building on Pracha Uthit Road in Huai Khwang District, Bangkok. Acting on a court search warrant, officers arrested 11 suspects and seized 224 MDMA tablets, 51.16 grams of methamphetamine, 3.83 grams of cocaine, 326.24 grams of ketamine, 19 ecstasy pills, 38 electronic cigarettes, 91,000 baht in cash, two rings, and a gold-like amulet worth an estimated 300,000 baht total.

The operation followed a police directive to inspect entertainment venues throughout Bangkok after a nightclub fire in the Lat Phrao area. Investigators discovered the venue, known informally as a "secret pub," was actually a commercial arcade used as a front. The establishment operated continuously for 24 hours, restricted access to regular customers—primarily bar hostesses and entertainment workers—and served as an after-hours location. Dark tinted film blocked all windows, making it impossible to distinguish day from night, with the venue packed from 4 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The venue sold various drugs including ketamine, ecstasy, and MDMA to customers who could use them openly at tables. Officials found the building had no operating license, only one entrance with no emergency fire exit, and violated safety standards. The ground floor operated as a full-service entertainment venue with 28 customers and staff present during the raid. A mezzanine level contained VIP rooms, and the second floor housed the owner's bedroom and drug stockpiles.

Police charged two suspects—identified as Somchai and Patthana, the alleged owner and an employee—with drug possession for distribution, possession of electronic cigarettes, unlicensed operation, and violating opening hours regulations. Nine other suspects, including staff and customers found with drugs in their systems, were also detained. During interrogation, Somchai admitted operating the venue for 1-2 years and purchasing drugs for personal use and resale to tourists.

Deputy Police Chief Theeradej Thammosutee noted this case exemplifies serious safety risks: the single entrance with no fire escape, closed-off kitchen area, and patrons impaired by drugs created extreme danger in an emergency. He emphasized lessons from recent tragic losses in society underscore the critical need for rigorous enforcement.
