Wat Chula Mani: 300 Years of Sacred History in Amphawa

Wat Chula Mani in Amphawa, Samut Songkhram province is an ancient temple with a history spanning approximately 300 years from the late Ayutthaya period. For visitors to the Amphawa floating market, this temple is an essential stop for prayer and blessings to bring peace and good fortune.

Historical Origins: From "Wat Mae Chao Thip" to Canal-Side Landmark

Ayutthaya Foundations: The temple is believed to have been constructed between 1629–1647 during the reign of King Prasat Thong, founded by Thao Kaew Phluek, daughter of Nai Talat Bang Chang from the Bang Chang royal family. It was originally named "Wat Mae Chao Thip."

Revival from Abandonment: The temple fell into severe disrepair and nearly became abandoned after the era of Phra Atikan Niam, the second abbot. It was later restored and renovated by Luang Pho Chaem Solos from Wat Bang Kapom.

Modern Era: Luang Pho Nueng Kovit has served as abbot and oversaw construction of a new ordination hall beginning in 1967. His successor, Phra Acharn It Buddhajaro, completed this beautiful structure, which features green jadestone from Karachi, Pakistan, laid on the upper floor.
