On October 5, 2026, reporters in Udon Thani province said a 68-year-old wife had posted on social media accusing her 37-year-old husband of using and selling methamphetamine. Following the tip, the district chief ordered a security team to investigate. Officers located a man matching the description—identified by the nickname 'Owen'—riding a motorcycle into the area. Although no drugs were found, a urine test turned purple, indicating meth use, and he was detained for legal action. The deputy district chief, Chat Acha-inai Thanathawarachoti, said they received local social media information that a man nicknamed Owen, recently released from prison after serving only four days, was suspected of drug activity, causing fear among villagers, prompting an urgent security check. He tested positive for methamphetamine and was charged with illegal consumption of a Category 1 narcotic. Owen said he had known his wife, nicknamed 'Joon', for almost 20 years, starting when he worked as a debt collector for her; their relationship evolved from employee to husband. He currently lives in Udon Thani while his wife lives in Kamphaeng Phet. After his arrest, Owen requested a video call with Joon, saying, 'I've been arrested after you posted—are you satisfied now?' Joon replied, 'It's fine; you brought this on yourself. If you had behaved, they wouldn't have arrested you.' Before hanging up, Owen told her, 'No matter what, I still love you.' Their exchange was overheard by reporters and officers.
