Woman Complains Over High Vegetable Prices at San Klang Market
A Chiang Mai woman complained about high vegetable prices at San Klang Market after paying 300 baht for produce she felt was insufficient, urging the market to review the shop's pricing practices.
A 29-year-old employee from San Kamphaeng District, Chiang Mai, filed a complaint on September 25 after purchasing vegetables from a stall inside San Klang Market in San Kamphaeng District. She found the price high relative to the quantity received, paying 315 baht which was reduced by 15 baht to 300 baht.
Wrananun explained that during her purchase, she did not ask about prices beforehand but simply picked vegetables into her basket until checkout. The shop quoted 315 baht and offered a 15-baht discount, leaving 300 baht to pay. After returning home and reviewing the quantity of vegetables received, she felt the price was quite high compared to the amount and volume of goods, especially when compared to other markets or shops where she normally buys similar quantities for similar prices.
On the day of purchase, she noticed two unfamiliar staff members at the shop, so she was unsure if they were new employees or new owners and uncertain how prices were set. She wanted the market to investigate the matter.
Wrananun emphasized that her complaint had no intention of causing problems with the shop or accusing it of incorrect pricing, as she herself did not ask about prices before buying—something she acknowledged she should have been more careful about. She simply felt that the price paid compared to the quantity of vegetables received was quite high and wanted the market to look into and verify the shop's pricing for clarity.
