Woman Dies in Truck Crash on Phatthalung Return
A 30-year-old woman died when the truck she was riding in overturned on Phetkasem Road in Phatthalung early September 22 during heavy rain; her husband, the driver, was seriously injured.
A husband and wife in a six-wheel truck returning from Yala with dragon fruit purchases were heading back to Ubon Ratchathani when their vehicle overturned in Phatthalung. The wife died and the husband was seriously injured. Authorities believe heavy rain made the road slippery.
At 3:40 a.m. on September 22, 2569, Pa Baw Police Officer Wirojn Prapbpri and Mae Khri rescue personnel responded to the scene where a green Hino truck with Ubon Ratchathani plates lay overturned near Wat Pa Bak curve on Phetkasem Road, Thung Nari subdistrict, Pa Baw district, Phatthalung province. Dragon fruit cargo was scattered widely across the roadway and shoulder. Inside, officers found the body of a 30-year-old woman from Lam Don Noi, Kirin district, Ubon Ratchathani, seated in the passenger area, deceased.
The driver, a 34-year-old man and the victim's husband, suffered serious injuries. Rescue personnel provided emergency aid and transported him to Pa Baw Hospital.
Initial investigation revealed that the driver and his wife were returning to Ubon Ratchathani after purchasing dragon fruit from Yala. Heavy rain at the accident site caused the road to become slippery. Combined with a sharp curve and the driver's unfamiliarity with the route, the truck lost control and overturned, resulting in the woman's death and the driver's serious injuries. Police continued detailed investigation into the cause.
