PHUKET — Hotel staff in Phuket returned an envelope containing cash worth about 100,000 baht to a French tourist after he accidentally left it in a wardrobe when checking out. The incident was shared by the owner of OASIS Phuket Airport, who said a housekeeper found the envelope containing stacks of banknotes in the wardrobe after the tourist had checked out. The French tourist had already travelled to Koh Samui when the money was found. The accommodation owner contacted him to inform him that his cash had been left behind. The tourist then travelled back to Phuket to collect the envelope. Guy Petcharat, the accommodation owner, told Phuket Times that the tourist appeared very relieved and happy to have his money returned. “He would have been shocked if the money had really been lost,” Guy said, adding that the envelope contained a substantial amount of cash. Historic Floating Buddha Image Draws Pilgrims to Samut Songkhram Temple

The legendary floating Buddha image Luang Pho Wat Ban Laem, housed at Wat Phet Samut Worawihan in Samut Songkhram, is revered for its miraculous powers and historic ties to Thai royalty. According to local lore, the statue was recovered from the Mae Klong River after a storm and has since attracted pilgrims seeking healing, prosperity and protection. Its fame was cemented during a 19th‑century cholera outbreak when holy water distributed by the abbot helped end the epidemic, and members of the Chakri dynasty have long made regular visits to pay respects.

BMA Cancels Khu Bon Water Project Amid Favoritism Claims

The Democrat Party spokesman accused the current Bangkok Metropolitan Administration of cancelling the Khu Bon water‑retention project to favour a housing development tied to the governor’s advisor. He said the project’s legal groundwork was complete and would have cost only 324 million baht, far less than the 11 billion baht claimed by officials. The cancellation, he argued, has deprived eastern Bangkok of a crucial flood‑prevention facility and warrants a serious investigation.
