A strengthening southwest monsoon will bring heavy rainfall to 37 Thai provinces today, with the Northeast and Eastern regions facing the most severe conditions and potential flooding risks over the next 24 hours.
Thirty-seven Thai provinces are bracing for heavy rainfall today, with the North, Northeast, and East bearing the brunt of the storms. Bangkok and its vicinity face 60 percent thunderstorm coverage, with low temperatures of 25–27°C and highs of 32–35°C. The Meteorological Department warns of dangerous conditions from heavy to very heavy rain over the next 24 hours, particularly in the Eastern region where some areas may see extreme downpours. The strengthening southwest monsoon is affecting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, with waves reaching 2–3 meters in some areas. Northern provinces including Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Tak, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun will see 60 percent thunderstorm coverage and heavy rain in spots, with temperatures between 22–27°C and 31–34°C. The Northeast faces 70 percent thunderstorm coverage across Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Udon Thani, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces, with lows of 23–26°C and highs of 29–35°C. Central Thailand expects 60 percent thunderstorm coverage, mainly in Suphan Buri, Saraburi, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Songkhram, and Samut Sakhon. The Eastern region will see heavy rain in Nakhon Nayok and Prachuap Khiri Khan, with very heavy rain possible in Chanthaburi and Trat, and waves up to 2 meters. Southern Thailand's east coast faces 40 percent thunderstorm coverage with heavy rain in Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, and Surat Thani, while the west coast experiences 60 percent coverage with heavy rain in Ranong and Phang Nga, and waves of 2–3 meters off Phuket increasing beyond 3 meters during thunderstorms.
