Actor Denies False Rumors About Actress Mother's Care
3 Aug Khaosod

Prominent actor Binit Banleuruedit has denied rumors spreading online that actress Nai Jaroen Pura had placed her mother in the "Baan Suk Sud Tai" elderly care facility founded by Binit. In a live social media broadcast, Binit firmly denied the claims and revealed the source of the confusion. Nai Jaroen Pura stressed that her family has provided excellent care for her mother throughout her life.

Binit explained that the misunderstanding likely arose from confusion with another elderly resident at the facility named "Auntie Usa" who may have known Nai Jaroen Pura's mother, leading to inaccurate reporting. He emphasized that Nai Jaroen Pura's mother does not have the name Usa. Binit further stressed that Nai Jaroen Pura is deeply caring and takes her mother everywhere she travels, leaving no reason to place her in a facility. The false rumors caused distress to the family, prompting them to go live to clarify the facts.

Nai Jaroen Pura herself came forward to explain that her family has personally provided excellent care for her mother, including medical treatment, daily care, and companionship at all times. She emphasized that the clarification was not intended to suggest nursing homes are inadequate facilities, as many provide quality care and families have legitimate reasons for such decisions. However, in this case, the reports are false and have created misunderstandings among the public and hurt her family's feelings. She appealed to the public not to share or spread unverified information, noting that careless words can cause real harm to many people. She also expressed gratitude to Binit Banleuruedit for publicly clarifying the facts.

Police issued a summons to a motorcyclist accused of kicking and damaging a rare Mercedes-Benz's mirror during a road rage incident in Buddhamon, with an arrest warrant to follow if he ignores the summons twice.

Police Issue Summons in Road Rage Mercedes Incident
3 Aug Khaosod

Buddhamon Police Station has issued a summons for a man involved in a road rage incident after the victim filed a complaint, but authorities have been unable to contact him. If he fails to respond to the summons twice, an arrest warrant will be issued immediately.

The incident began when a motorcyclist with a female passenger allegedly attempted to verbally abuse and spat on a blue Mercedes-Benz, ordering it to pull over. The Mercedes owner captured the entire incident on video. After both motorcyclists hit a red light, they dismounted and struck the Mercedes, with the man pushing and breaking the car's side mirror before kicking it again. The owner subsequently filed a complaint regarding damage to the side mirror of his Mercedes-AMG C43 4MATIC Coupe Special Edition, a rare blue model of which only 18 exist in Thailand.

On August 3, 2569, Police Captain Pornchai Ariyanon, commander of Buddhamon Station, provided an update. Following the incident, officers conducted preliminary questioning of the suspect, who admitted only to kicking the mirror. However, police released him at that time because no formal complaint had yet been filed.

After the victim subsequently filed a complaint, investigators spent the entire day attempting to contact the suspect without success. The commander then ordered officers to issue a summons on charges of property damage. Other charges, such as defamation, remain under investigation pending witness statements and evidence collection. If the suspect fails to appear for the summons twice, police will issue an arrest warrant immediately.

Meanwhile, the man in black clothing who rode the second motorcycle and the female passenger are currently being tracked for questioning. Investigators are also reviewing CCTV footage along the escape route as the investigation continues.

Thailand Seizes 20,000 Unsafe Squishy Toys in Safety Crackdown

Thailand Seizes 20,000 Unsafe Squishy Toys in Safety Crackdown
3 Aug Khaosod

Thailand's Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) seized nearly 20,000 uncertified squishy toys worth more than 1 million baht from shops and distribution centres in Bangkok's Sampheng market area following inspections of six businesses that uncovered 19,665 squishy toys failing to meet mandatory safety requirements.

Ekniti Romyanon, TISI secretary-general, explained that squishy products are legally classified as toys and must comply with Thai Industrial Standard TIS 685 Part 1-2019, with required TIS certification marks before legal import or sale in Thailand. TISI launched the inspections after monitoring the toys' growing popularity on social media and online platforms including TikTok, focusing on stores with large followings before tracing products to six major shops and distribution centres in Sampheng. One operator was acting as both seller and unauthorised importer, while five were selling uncertified products; all six face legal action.

Convictions for selling substandard products carry up to six months imprisonment, fines up to 500,000 baht, or both, while unauthorised importers face up to two years imprisonment and fines up to 2 million baht. Ekniti warned that uncertified squishy toys may contain unsafe chemical levels, heavy metals, fragrances and coatings, with many made from polyurethane or low-grade foam potentially containing volatile organic compounds and phthalates linked to cancer risks, endocrine disruption, respiratory irritation and allergic reactions. Some toys designed to resemble food with added fragrances could encourage young children to place them in their mouths, risking chemical exposure or choking, while the moisture-retaining material may allow bacteria and fungal growth if improperly cleaned. Consumers were advised to check for TIS marks before purchasing toys, particularly those for young children.

YouTuber Gun Shares Two Tips for Quitting Smoking After 12 Years

YouTuber Gun Smile quit smoking after 12 years by destroying cigarettes immediately and using the 10-minute waiting rule to overcome cravings, now 10 months smoke-free.

YouTuber Gun Shares Two Tips for Quitting Smoking After 12 Years
3 Aug Khaosod

Popular YouTuber Gun Smile has opened up about successfully quitting smoking after 12 years of heavy use, revealing two tricks that helped him break the habit over the past 10 months. Gun, the owner of the @4MILLION_OFFICIAL channel with over 800,000 followers, shared his experience in hopes of motivating others struggling to quit.

Gun explained that he had been smoking since high school, starting with rolled cigarettes, IQOS, and eventually vaping—a habit that lasted over 12 years. Now, more than 10 months smoke-free, he shared two simple but willpower-intensive methods.

The first method is destruction: Gun deliberately destroys and throws away cigarettes or vaping devices immediately. Even when cravings hit and he considers buying more, repeatedly destroying his supplies gradually breaks the habit by creating distance from cigarettes.

The second method is the 10-minute rule: When cravings strike, Gun tells himself to wait 10 minutes and do something else, then gradually extends the waiting period to 20 minutes or an hour until the craving passes and the brain forgets the desire.

Gun concluded by saying "People who quit smoking are cool!" and warned others against giving in even once if tempted, as doing so would reset all their progress immediately.

His post has earned widespread praise from fans for his determination and as a positive health example for youth. The Thailand Health Promotion Foundation also left an encouraging comment, though it humorously misspelled his name as "Kungsmai," prompting Gun to playfully tease them about the typo.

Health Minister Orders Audit of 60 Billion Baht Budget

Health Minister Phattana Prom-phattan ordered an audit of 60 billion baht in National Health Security Office funds, demanding agencies clarify within a week how the 2024 budget was distributed and whether it was spent efficiently.

Health Minister Orders Audit of 60 Billion Baht Budget
3 Aug Khaosod

Health Minister Phattana Prom-phattan has ordered an audit of approximately 60 billion baht in National Health Security Office (NHSO) funds, demanding clarification within 7 days on which agencies received the money and whether it was spent efficiently. This follows the minister's statement that the national health security budget was not distributed through the Health Ministry's system, despite the ministry being the primary healthcare provider, raising questions about where the funds were allocated and for what purposes.

On August 3, 2025, following a meeting of the NHSO board, the minister stated the issue concerns the 2024 fiscal year budget that still requires clarification. He assigned Manida Phu-charoen, head of the Finance Subcommittee, to provide detailed explanations within 7 days. Preliminary findings indicate 16,000-17,000 million baht was distributed to Health Ministry-affiliated agencies outside the ministry's main office, including approximately 11,000 million baht to Rajavithi Hospital specifically for medicine procurement that cannot be used for other purposes, with the remaining 5,000 million baht entering the ministry's system.

Additionally, over 20,000 million baht in health promotion and disease prevention funds, plus other fund allocations, require detailed review. The minister emphasized the need to know not just where money went, but the nature of recipient organizations—whether they are legal entities, foundations, or clinics—and how effectively funds were spent. He stated the audit will prioritize spending efficiency over fraud detection initially, though any suspicious findings will be investigated further. The minister clarified that the 60 billion baht is not "missing" but rather requires clarification on how it was distributed and its impact on the healthcare system.

Thai Workers Plan Finances Better With Credit Lines

Thai self-employed workers are increasingly using credit lines as financial planning tools rather than emergency-only borrowing, with over 60% opening accounts in advance to manage cash flow and unexpected expenses.

Thai Workers Plan Finances Better With Credit Lines
3 Aug Khaosod

SEasyCash, a micro-lending product for self-employed workers by Money Capital Co., Ltd., revealed survey findings showing users are increasingly planning finances more deliberately. Over 60% of survey respondents chose to open credit lines in advance to prepare financially for emergencies without immediately drawing on them. This reflects how credit access is being viewed as a tool to enhance financial flexibility and manage liquidity while coping with employment uncertainty.

A survey of over 5,000 app users in Thailand found approximately 65% chose to open credit lines in advance and use them only when necessary, with just 33% withdrawing immediately after opening. This shows users view credit access as a financial preparedness tool for unexpected situations rather than for immediate spending.

Usage patterns also reflect need-based behavior in specific periods rather than continuous reliance. Nearly half of respondents, or 49%, said they withdraw monthly, while 16% use funds every 2–3 months, indicating selective, necessity-driven usage.

Users view credit lines as liquidity management tools to boost self-employed income. Usage peaks during emergency or unexpected expenses, exceeding 50%, highlighting the importance of credit as working capital to supplement liquidity and improve cash flow management. Survey responses also mention using credit for business-related purposes such as purchasing goods for resale, cash circulation, buying raw materials, and expanding business activities. Access to appropriate liquidity appears to help self-employed workers manage costs, plan cash flow, and maintain income continuity more effectively.

Supphawit Hongamorsorn, Country Manager for Thailand at Money Capital Co., Ltd., stated: "Today's users no longer view cash credit simply as an emergency tool for daily life, but as preparation for growth and liquidity support for shops and businesses. For small consumers, it may serve as startup capital or supplementary income. We believe SEasyCash offers accessible and flexible liquidity support through the ShopeePay app. We're ready to help self-employed workers and small entrepreneurs access appropriate financial tools to manage daily financial needs, plan ahead, and pursue income or business opportunities with greater confidence."

Interested parties can learn more about SEasyCash, the micro-lending product for self-employed workers provided by Money Capital Co., Ltd., through the ShopeePay application. Credit approval is subject to company conditions. Borrowers should only borrow what is necessary and repay as scheduled. The effective annual interest rate is 25–33% with declining-balance interest calculation.
