Pattaya Braces for US Navy Shore Leave with Enhanced Security

On September 2, Pattaya city in Bang Lamung district, Chachoengsao province, has coordinated multiple government agencies to strengthen security measures and improve services following the arrival of US Navy personnel seeking rest and recreation in the area. Focus areas include tourist attractions and key service establishments, with additional foot patrols and personnel deployed to anticipated high-traffic locations.

Bang Lamung District Officer Anusak Piriyomrom, Pattaya City Mayor Prameswar Gamphiseth, and Deputy Police Station Commander Sirivat Katmaty, along with naval officers, EOD personnel, and related agencies, have been deployed to maintain order.

Officials have divided the primary coverage area into five zones: Pattaya Soi 6, Walking Street, Bua Khao Soi, the area leading into Walking Street, and the Dong Tarn Curve near Na Jomtien. Mayor Prameswar emphasized that the visit is important for Pattaya's tourism image and called on hotel operators, restaurants, and service providers to maintain high standards of safety, product quality, fair pricing, and honest service without exploiting tourists.

Deputy Police Commander Sirivat noted that foot patrols have been increased significantly along anticipated routes, with coordination between tourist police, civil authorities, and military personnel. Checkpoints have been established to screen individuals and vehicles entering the area.

Tourists requiring assistance can contact the Tourist Police Hotline at 1155, which provides language support. Emergency services are available at 191 around the clock.

Meanwhile, Pattaya's commercial districts have experienced a notable uptick in activity, with US Navy personnel browsing shopping malls, commercial centers, and markets for souvenirs and clothing. Entertainment venues and bars in the city have also seen increased business as service personnel enjoy shore leave.
