Buri Ram Officials Launch Walk-Run to Aid Vulnerable Communities
Buri Ram officials announced a walk‑run event set for 22 November 2026 to raise funds for social programs in six districts. Proceeds will support poor housing, mother‑and‑child health initiatives, and drug‑rehabilitation efforts, with transparent accounting down to the sub‑district level. The initiative aims to strengthen community cooperation and reduce inequality across the province.
On 2 October 2026, Mr. Sopon Saralum, President of the National Assembly and House of Representatives, in his role as chairman of the Good Deeds for the Fatherland Club, presided over a press conference announcing the “Walk–Run United Strength of Faith to Build a Livable Town” event. Also present were Mr. Sak Saralum, Buri Ram MP from the Bhumjaithai Party, and partners from all sectors in the six districts of Lam Plai Mat, Khu Mueang, Phutthaisong, Na Pho, Ban Mai Chaiyaphon, and Nong Hong, who joined forces to improve quality of life for mothers, children, the elderly, the poor, and those needing drug rehabilitation. Mr. Sopon said the activity aims to build “collective local power” involving government, local administration, public health, education, civil society, and private sector to support these groups, with proceeds from shirt sales and registration fees forming a transparent central fund to drive social work down to the sub‑district level, while also supporting Smart Mom Centers linked to the Wonderful 1,000 Days project. In addition, the Ananatpon Saralum (Luk Ting) Foundation donated 100,000 baht to build houses for the poor in Ban Mai Chaiyaphon district, alleviating housing problems and raising living standards, and gave morale funds of 33,000 baht to the administration and volunteer teams in Khu Mueang district for seizing 333,085 methamphetamine tablets, and 10,000 baht to Phutthaisong district for seizing 48,000 tablets. The walk‑run is scheduled for the evening of 22 November 2026 at the Huai Fai Noo Reservoir in Lam Plai Mat Municipality, inviting all ages and genders to participate for health and community benefit. The core of the activity is to unite the six districts to jointly plan and use resources to concretely help people, create opportunities, reduce inequality, and develop strong, livable, sustainable communities.
