The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) celebrated its 59th founding anniversary on August 14, 2025, at its convention hall in Bangkok, with Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry Chaiwat Chunkosum representing the ministry, alongside MWA Board Chairman Chanthanon Wannaketch and MWA Governor Suwara Twitchasri.
Chanthanon Wannaketch congratulated the organization on nearly six decades of serving as a critical public utility caring for residents across Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan. He noted that MWA has continuously applied technology to improve public services, including clean water delivery, digitalization of state enterprises, energy conservation, and commitment to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.
Suwara Twitchasri said the organization has maintained its momentum by integrating digital technology and innovation across all water management operations—from production and distribution to pipe laying and repair to minimize water loss. The MWA has introduced comprehensive one-stop water services and modern mobile applications, including the MWA onMobile app, making water services accessible to over 12 million residents across the three provinces at any time and any place.
The authority is also prioritizing staff development to drive organizational progress through knowledge, technology, and innovation, aiming to raise Thailand's water management standards to international benchmarks. This aligns with the Interior Ministry's policies on improving quality of life and sustainable resource management.
During August 5–14, 2025, MWA held "Water Authority Meets the Public" activities offering guidance on basic pipe system repairs, water tank cleaning, and leak detection. The organization also promoted its mobile app, Line official account, and electronic billing service, while encouraging water conservation awareness among residents. On August 14, external organizations were invited to celebrate the milestone and donate to the MWA's Phra Mae Dhani Foundation instead of giving traditional gifts, with honors awarded to those who have benefited the authority.
