Breast Cancer Foundation Launches 'Check Your Breasts' Campaign
The Breast Cancer Foundation and True Plook Panya have launched the 'Check Your Breasts' campaign for World Breast Cancer Day, featuring Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata. The initiative urges Thai women to perform regular self‑exams and seek timely screenings, emphasizing that early detection can raise survival rates to as high as 95%. Breast cancer remains the leading cancer among women in Thailand and globally.
The Breast Cancer Foundation, under the patronage of Princess Sirindhorn, together with True Plook Panya, is advancing the "Check Your Breasts" campaign for World Breast Cancer Day on October 7. They have invited Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata to join the effort, urging Thai women to perform regular self‑exams and screenings, stressing that early detection greatly improves treatment outcomes. Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women worldwide and in Thailand, with about 21,061 new cases reported annually, representing 23.5% of all new female cancer cases. Data from Sirirat Hospital shows a 95% 10‑year survival rate for stage‑1 patients, highlighting the importance of early detection. The disease can affect women of any age and even men, so any abnormality should not be ignored. Busadee Jiaravanont, secretary of the foundation, said the organization has worked for over 30 years to move knowledge into action, and the partnership with True Plook Panya has helped spread breast‑health information widely. Opal Suchata has featured in a new public‑service video encouraging regular breast self‑examination and medical screening. True Plook Panya is also using its technology and learning platforms to work with the foundation and 38 Rajabhat University campuses nationwide through "Breast Cancer Clubs" to train faculty and student leaders.
