Chiang Mai Governor Pledges 500K Baht Prize for SEA V Cup Champions
Chiang Mai's governor is offering a 500,000-baht prize to the SEA V Cup 2026 women's volleyball champion, with Thailand facing the Philippines today in the tournament's second venue running through August 9.
Pichai Lertspongsadisorn, governor of the Chiang Mai Provincial Administration Organization, announced a 500,000-baht prize for the champion team of the women's volleyball SEA V Cup 2026 (BYD DMI 6th SEA V CUP 2026). The tournament's second venue is taking place in Chiang Mai from August 7–9, 2026, with Thailand's national team opening play against the Philippines today at 2:30 p.m.
Governor Pichai expressed delight at the enthusiastic response from Chiang Mai volleyball fans, who have lined up to book tickets in numbers exceeding 3,000. The atmosphere has been lively, with some fans waiting overnight, demonstrating that Chiang Mai residents are no less passionate than supporters elsewhere.
"The Chiang Mai Provincial Administration wants our athletes to compete at their absolute best," the governor said. "We've raised funds from partners to offer a special prize to the championship team, regardless of which nation wins. That prize is 500,000 baht, to make the competition even more exciting and intense."
Thailand's women's volleyball team will take the court against the Philippines today (August 7, 2026) at 4:30 p.m.
