CKPower Ramps Up Power Generation for Second Half of 2025
CKPower will launch a 5-megawatt solar project with Bangkok's transit system in September while benefiting from higher Mekong River water flows expected through year-end to boost electricity generation.
CKPower, a renewable energy power producer, announced its operational direction for the second half of 2025. The company will begin commercial operations of a 5-megawatt solar power project developed jointly with Bangkok Mass Transit System in September, expanding its renewable energy portfolio while supporting the adoption of clean energy in the country's transport and infrastructure systems.
During the first six months of 2025, water flow through the Xayaburi hydroelectric plant was 17.7 percent higher than the same period last year, resulting in an 11.2 percent increase in electricity sales. For the second half of the year, the company expects continued favorable water conditions in the Mekong River, with elevated water releases from upstream areas in China anticipated through early November and possible additional releases in December, supporting strong power generation in the fourth quarter.
The Nam Ngum 2 reservoir stood at 32.53 percent of usable capacity at the end of July, with additional storage available as the monsoon season brings increased inflows. Following maintenance in the first quarter, the Bang Pa-in Cogeneration plant has returned to full production capacity, further strengthening the company's generating portfolio for the remainder of 2025.
