At 10:00 a.m. on September 3, 2026, legal staff from the Energy Business Department under the Ministry of Energy filed charges with Second Lieutenant Phakphol Paibuulsombat, investigative officer at Makkasan Police Station, against a data center company in the Rama IX area. The company is accused of violating the Fuel Oil Control Act, B.E. 2542, Section 65, by operating a Category 3 controlled business without authorization. Penalties include imprisonment of up to 2 years, a fine not exceeding 200,000 baht, or both.
Investigators conducted initial interrogations and prepared daily reports. Additional information and documents are being gathered for further examination.
According to the authorized representative, following a complaint from local residents on August 21, Energy Business Department officers inspected the data center facility. In the basement, they discovered six large fuel storage tanks, each holding 40,000 liters, with a total reserve of approximately 200,000 liters stored without proper authorization. The company was ordered to remove all fuel from the premises and subsequently complied. However, the storage itself constitutes a completed offense, prompting today's criminal charges.
