DEE Delight Handles Wind Turbine Components for Thai Power Project
11 Aug Khaosod

DEE Delight Port Stevedoring Services is advancing its expertise in heavy lift and project cargo operations by supporting the transport of wind turbine generator components for a wind power plant. The company applies engineering knowledge, planning, and risk management to handle specialized large components while meeting manufacturer safety standards. This builds on recent success handling super heavy modules weighing over 800 tons at Chumphon Port for export to Baytown, Texas.

Krisad Sitongon, CEO of DEE Delight Port Stevedoring Services, explained that wind turbine component handling falls under Project Cargo and Out of Gauge (OOG) categories, with each component having specific constraints regarding size, weight, center of gravity, and lifting methods. The work requires detailed engineering and logistics planning, from component analysis and risk assessment to lift design and equipment selection, ensuring safe delivery that meets schedules and manufacturer standards.

Key components DEE Delight handles include wind turbine blades exceeding 90 meters long weighing approximately 37 tons each, hubs weighing about 53 tons, nacelles weighing about 40 tons, and drive trains weighing nearly 100 tons. The 90-meter blades are particularly sensitive to wind forces and require careful control to prevent bending or twisting during lifting and movement. The drive trains, weighing nearly 100 tons, require precise lifting point design, load distribution, center of gravity assessment, and vessel balance evaluation to ensure safe operations.

The company's previous experience with super heavy modules weighing over 800 tons provides a foundation for applying engineering expertise, risk management, and multi-party coordination to each project. Krisad stated: "Thailand's investment direction in clean energy, infrastructure, and large industry is creating opportunities for the heavy lift and project cargo sector. DEE Delight's goal is to strengthen Thai personnel capabilities alongside developing engineering and safety standards to support large domestic projects and enhance Thai businesses' competitiveness at the regional level."

About DEE Delight Port Stevedoring Services: DEE Delight is a heavy lift service provider and project cargo specialist using engineering-based services covering component assessment, risk analysis, lift design, equipment selection, and management of oversized or out-of-gauge cargo requiring specialized planning to ensure safe and efficient transport.

At 9:50 a.m. on August 11, 2025, at Government House, Chatchai Bangchued, Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC), addressed reports of his potential replacement by laughing and saying it is a government matter. He confirmed he has heard the rumors but received no official signals and continues working normally as before.

When asked whether the Prime Minister had mentioned the topic, Chatchai confirmed there had been no such discussion, though he meets regularly with the PM for official duties. He declined to speculate on potential future changes, preferring to focus on continuing his normal work. When asked if the rumors had affected his performance, he said they should not, noting he has been at the NSC for nearly 35 years continuously.

When asked about his personal preference, Chatchai said it would be natural to retire in his current position if possible. He expressed deep attachment to the organization, having joined in 1992, and noted he would complete 35 years of service by his retirement in 2027. Minister Denies Knowledge of Party Defection Reports

Natural Resources Minister Suchat Chomklin denied Wednesday having knowledge of reports that ten Krathodham Party members are defecting to Pheu Thai, claiming he only learned of it through media coverage.

Minister Denies Knowledge of Party Defection Reports
11 Aug Khaosod

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchat Chomklin, a core leader of Pheu Thai Party, denied Wednesday morning at Government House having any actual knowledge of reports that ten Krathodham Party (KDC) members are switching to Pheu Thai. He said he has only followed the story through media and was not part of any discussions about it. "What I don't know, I don't know," he stated. "If I knew something, I couldn't keep it to myself—I'd tell it if asked. But if I don't know, I simply don't know. It's not good to speak about things we don't understand. I have to admit openly to the media that I genuinely don't know and haven't followed up, because I consider this to be each person's own interpretation and thoughts. I don't want to overstep anyone's feelings."

When asked if he had exchanged information with Bunyying Nititkanjana, a Krathodham MP from Ratchaburi, Suchat said they only see each other in parliament recently and don't talk. He dismissed the story as political color and said the media likely has more reliable sources than he does.

Regarding whether the government deliberately recruited new members, Suchat clarified that such decisions are the party leadership's domain, not his. He is only one MP among 197 and not a party executive committee member. He credited PM Anutin Charnvirakul with steering both party and government direction.

Asked if the news was meant to overshadow reports about the red and green parties, Suchat said all 500 MPs follow media reports—nobody has the real facts. "It's political theater. When there's a news source, whether it's true or false depends on the source the media received," he explained.

Challenging predictions the government won't survive its full term, Suchat asserted that Anutin's administration is strong and all ministers are confident in their work. He drew on his six to seven years in previous cabinets since 2019, noting that every government faces problems manufactured by opponents trying to undermine it.

"If the government stands firm, as the PM says—standing by working for the nation and its people—nothing can harm it," Suchat said. Asked about multiple current crises surrounding the government, he downplayed them. "These problems are still fewer and less severe than the COVID-19 era. That was the most dangerous—a national crisis far scarier than today. Both PM Anutin and I lived through that. He was Deputy PM and Health Minister responsible for the whole country, facing much heavier problems than now. I was Labor Minister overseeing some 10 million workers. The truly frightening problems are those that become global crises or things beyond our control."

Environment Ministry Orders Urgent Investigation Into Ban Po Factory Fire
11 Aug Khaosod

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchat Chomklin revealed on August 11 that he received a report of a fire at P.S.P.N. Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a motorcycle parts factory in Ban Po, Ratchaburi Province, which broke out around 5:30 a.m. on August 10. The fire consumed production materials, mostly paper and plastic. Suchat ordered the Pollution Control Department's Region 8 office to urgently inspect the site and monitor air quality downwind of the facility to assess environmental impacts and reassure residents. If contamination or pollution levels exceed standards, immediate corrective action will be required.

Air quality measurements taken 100 meters downwind to the northeast detected ammonia at 1 ppm and chlorine at 0.2 ppm, both within standards, while inside the factory volatile organic compounds measured 10 ppm and ammonia at 2 ppm, also within occupational standards. However, firefighting water flowed into a public canal behind the factory with a brown, foamy appearance and oily residue, with a pH of 8. Authorities blocked the water outlet and coordinated with the municipality, while the factory agreed to have GENCO treat the water properly. Water samples were collected from the canal for analysis and environmental impact assessment.

The film 'Ta Khon (Ta Khon: The Cursed Mask)' by Star Hunter Entertainment has been selected for its world premiere at the Thai Film Festival in São Paulo, Brazil, on August 14–16 at Espaço Petrobras de Cinema. The director and cast, including Moss Phanumat Sophpradt, Bank Montoop Hematroon, and Mi Phuwadon Nao Sopa, will travel to meet fans at the event.

The KNOT series on Channel One31 continues to gain traction, with its theme song 'Bonding' (Bonding) equally popular. Singer Bot Yongyuth shared his excitement: 'I felt thrilled because this is a rare opportunity. I was nervous in the recording studio, but the producer guided me through vocal delivery, rhythm, and emotional expression, helping me relax and enjoy the work more. The challenge was that this song isn't just a track—it's another chapter telling the character's story, so listeners connect with the series and feel what the character feels. I hope when people hear this song alongside the series, they'll connect even more with the character's emotions and story.'

Channel 3 has partnered with TV Scene to launch 'Rasa Kaal,' a mysterious period drama featuring Kao Nopkao Dechapattakul and Pai Rinrada Kaewbuasai. The plot blends suspense and romance, following Kram, a young chef who owns the mysterious restaurant Rasa Kaal, which bridges past and present. The arrival of Mayra, a woman holding a crucial secret, transforms his quiet world and will air soon on Channel 3.

After successful performances in Taipei, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Singapore, South Korean indie rock band JANNABI will bring their 'JANNABI 1st Asia Tour: Sweat & Stardust in Bangkok' to Thai fans on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Siam Paragon Hall. Cabinet Tackles Southern Economy, Urban Planning at Songkhla Forum
11 Aug Khaosod

At 9:40 a.m. on August 11, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phipat Ratchakitprakarn announced that the Prime Minister has approved the first off-site cabinet meeting in Hat Yai district, Songkhla province, scheduled for August 31–September 1. The meeting on August 31 will include field visits, and the cabinet session will focus on tackling problems in five southern provinces—Songkhla, Satun, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat—to address livelihood issues and outdated urban planning frameworks.

Phipat noted that he met with the five provincial governors and private-sector representatives on August 9 to prepare for the session. A summary meeting will be held at the Government House on August 25, where all five provinces will present projects aimed at stimulating the economy and propose changes, particularly to zoning and urban planning regulations that have been in use for a long time.

He stressed that budget-framework discussions are not the focus; rather, the private sector will present their needs and proposals. Initial proposals will center on vocational promotion and economic revitalization, especially in the three southern border provinces, which have the nation's lowest average incomes. As the Prime Minister has tasked him with overseeing 14 southern provinces, he seized the opportunity to bring issues of five provinces to the cabinet agenda.

Regarding flooding, Phipat clarified that it is a separate matter. A disaster-management meeting for the 14 southern provinces was already held on August 7, with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation handling flood prevention. He asked provinces to submit their proposals through the provincial governors.

On the Missing Link project, Phipat stated that the Prime Minister assigned Deputy PM Anutin Charnvirakul to review the land bridge proposal, which has now been shelved or cancelled. The Port Authority of Ranong requires further study. He directed the Transport Ministry's Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP) to assess whether Ranong Port is suitable for development and public investment, or whether an alternative location should be surveyed.

Phipat added that he would discuss the land bridge with protesters, noting that an memorandum of understanding was signed committing that the term "land bridge" would not be revived. With Anutin's cancellation, the matter is closed. However, developing an Andaman-coast port remains strategically important and an opportunity for Thailand. The choice of port location along the Andaman coast—among Satun, Krabi, Phuket, Phang Nga, and Ranong—depends on feasibility, though Phuket is unlikely to be selected.

Thailand Prepares for Singapore in ASEAN Cup Semifinal
11 Aug Khaosod

On August 11 at the BGTC 3 training facility in Pathum Thani province, Thailand's men's national football team continued preparations for the ASEAN Cup 2026 semifinal, where they will face Singapore in their opening match. The team shifted training to morning sessions, focusing on reviewing tactics and ensuring players are in peak physical condition.

Strike Theerasak Phaymaai expressed confidence despite acknowledging Singapore's strength, saying: "We're reviewing our tactics and training to build momentum before facing Singapore. I've scored against them before in the ASEAN Cup, so I'm confident, but Singapore is a strong team with an excellent system. Many of their players have been playing together at their clubs for a long time and their team organization is very good, so we need to be very careful. Our goal in the first match is to give our all and bring home a victory. I ask for support from all Thai football fans—we will do our best."

Phaymaai added that the arrival of striker Pommy Patrick Gustafsson has given the team more attacking options. The ASEAN Cup 2026 semifinal will be played on a home-and-away basis, with Thailand traveling to Singapore's Jalan Besar Stadium on August 11 at 8 p.m., before returning to Rajamangala Stadium for the second leg on August 18 at 8 p.m.

Global Economy Weakens, Thailand Spending Improves But Fragile

Thailand's economy improved in Q3 thanks to government stimulus, but faces headwinds as spending programs shrink and energy costs threaten to squeeze household budgets despite easing overall inflation.

Global Economy Weakens, Thailand Spending Improves But Fragile
11 Aug Khaosod

Krungsri Research's weekly economic assessment finds global energy supply disruptions will continue despite Iran and Oman agreeing on shipping protocols through the Strait of Hormuz, with the outcome depending primarily on U.S.-Iran negotiations. High barriers to talks remain after Iran considered legislation banning U.S., Israeli, and hostile nation vessels, keeping energy prices elevated.

The U.S. labor market contracted more than expected in July, with non-farm employment falling 23,000 positions against a forecast of 88,000 gains, while hourly wages slowed to 3.2% year-on-year from 3.4%, below the 3.5% expectation. Despite inflation remaining above the 2.0% target amid high energy prices and trade tariff risks, weakening employment and wage growth are expected to ease demand-side inflation pressure, likely supporting the Federal Reserve in holding policy rates at 3.50-3.75% through year-end.

China's exports drive growth amid weak domestic consumption, with high-tech goods expanding over 50% for a third straight month. The trade war with the U.S. is expected to continue in limited form, with average tariff rates potentially rising but unlikely to exceed previously agreed levels, while controls on advanced technology and military-related goods will remain ongoing policy tools.

Thailand's third-quarter economy benefits from government stimulus measures but faces uncertainty ahead. By end-July, the "Thai Help Thai Plus" program had distributed 86.4 billion baht total—49.6 billion from the government and 36.8 billion from public participation. General inflation eased to 1.95% in July from 2.42% in June due to fuel price adjustments, though processed food prices rose broadly, pushing core inflation to 1.34% from 1.23%.

Despite improved spending and moderating inflation in Q3, Thailand faces economic headwinds ahead: consumption stimulus may fade as Q4's "Thai Travel Thai Plus" carries only 1.75-2 billion baht versus the 120 billion baht in the Help Thai Plus program; medium to long-term measures, particularly the 200 billion baht energy transition investment plan, remain unclear; and cost pressures from high producer prices (PPI at +7.26% in July) may gradually pass through to consumers, squeezing household purchasing power.

Ex-Politician Denied Bail in Fatal Shooting of Nonthaburi Governor
11 Aug Khaosod

On August 11, 2025, at Nonthaburi Provincial Court, ex-legislator Chaloeng Riao-raeng faced charges for armed assault on Governor Thongchai Yenpraserit, who sustained severe injuries and died shortly after. Investigators from Rattanakosin Police Station filed charges including premeditated murder, attempted murder, illegal firearms possession in public without authorization, and unlawful discharge of explosives under the Criminal Code sections 32, 33, 80, 91, 288, 371, 376, and the Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and Imitation Weapons Act of 1947, sections 4, 7, 8, and 72. After the remand hearing, Chaloeng requested temporary release. Nonthaburi Provincial Court denied bail, citing the grave and violent nature of the charges, severe penalties, investigator opposition, and concerns he may flee or commit further crimes. The court upheld the remand order. Authorities deployed 20 special task force officers to guard Chaloeng in custody, fearing retribution. Police discovered over 50 bullets and nine firearms at his residence.
