Deputy Commander and Three Others Arrested on Corruption Charges
A police deputy sergeant and three associates were arrested on corruption charges including abuse of authority and coercion to obtain property, with all suspects facing legal proceedings in Chiang Mai.
Deputy Commander and three associates were arrested following an arrest warrant issued by the Corruption and Misconduct Court for abuse of authority. On September 15, 2026, Deputy National Police Chief Trairon Phiwphan and National Police Spokesman conducted an inspection of Chiang Mai Provincial Police, accompanied by senior commanders and representatives from all 38 police stations under Chiang Mai Provincial Police, where he issued guidance on duty conduct including staying connected with the public, staying aware of problems, and staying connected with subordinates. He strictly ordered all police officers to comply with national police orders and policies without negligence, emphasizing inspection methods, performance monitoring, and control to build good conduct and discipline among subordinates. He also stressed prevention of serious misconduct from the source and strict monitoring of discharged individuals.
Deputy National Police Chief Trairon ordered continuous regular tactical training upgrades to ensure police are prepared to effectively assist the public and maintain peace and security.
According to reports, Chiang Mai Provincial Police investigation units, working with San Kamphaeng Police Station, arrested four suspects on four arrest warrants, including one police officer, as follows:
1. Acting Police Senior Sergeant Kritpol (surname withheld), age 57, Deputy Director of an investigation unit under Region 5 Provincial Police, arrested on an arrest warrant from the Corruption and Misconduct Court Region 5 dated September 2, 2026, charged with "abuse of authority, coercion or inducement to obtain property or benefits for himself or others, improper performance or failure to perform duties causing damage, or performing or failing to perform duties with dishonesty."
2. Mr. Narakorn (surname withheld), age 39 3. Mr. Seksak (surname withheld), age 28 4. Mr. Siraphop (surname withheld), age 38
All three are suspects arrested on warrants from the Corruption and Misconduct Court Region 5 dated September 2, 2026, charged with "assisting in abuse of authority, coercion or inducement to obtain property or benefits, improper performance or failure to perform duties causing damage, or performing or failing to perform duties with dishonesty." They will be transferred to San Kamphaeng Police Station for further legal proceedings.
