He arranged for medical supplies from the Public Health Ministry and water pumps from the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry, urging agencies to act swiftly and inclusively. He praised the civic spirit of teachers and staff who assisted residents beyond their official duties.
Deputy Education Minister Akkanat Kanthonkitinan visited Lam Luk Ka district in Pathum Thani province to inspect flood-affected staff and students of the Office of Non-Formal and Informal Education (ONFIE). Accompanied by ONFIE Director-General Dr. Kesthip Supawanich, he toured Rinthon Thong Village in Kukhot Subdistrict, Lam Luk Ka, to offer encouragement and assess assistance efforts. He said that ONFIE personnel and teachers had joined cleanup operations and helped residents in flooded areas.
Akkanat coordinated with relevant agencies to expedite relief, contacting the Public Health Ministry to supply medicines and medical supplies, and the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry to provide personnel and equipment for water pumping. He stressed that authorities must proactively address problems rather than wait for residents to seek help, emphasizing integrated action: “Although the Education Ministry lacks water pumps or medicine, we can facilitate support from other agencies to aid the public, and we will continue monitoring recovery efforts.”
He praised the collaborative spirit of teachers, staff, and officials, noting that their assistance went beyond duty and reflected civic responsibility: “Helping flood victims is not a direct obligation of ONFIE staff, but as citizens we cannot stand by when our neighbors suffer. If we have the ability to help, we must do so.” Akkanat urged ONFIE units to closely monitor the situation and promptly coordinate with relevant agencies to assist vulnerable groups, keeping the public at the center and ensuring no one faces hardship alone.
