On October 9, 2026, Sop Moei District Officer Kamphan Mokethai, accompanied by Police Lt. Col. Nagon Srikanta, Subdistrict Mayor Pasakorn Lueananasan, Village Head Chatupol Sai Kusolapichon, and Social Development Officer Lieutenant Supachai Juiyen, took the opposing parties to Wat Saentong in Omkoi district, Chiang Mai Province. There, Abbot Phra Kru Sunthawiwapas performed the religious oath‑drinking ceremony so the parties could reconcile and live peacefully. Representatives of the group that had expelled the families—who originally cited a dream as their reason—joined with the accused side and the seven affected households in drinking the oath water as a heartfelt promise to abide by the agreement and cease the evictions, which officials said were both groundless and a breach of human rights. Also present as witnesses were Omkoi District Officer Preechaphon Poolthee, government officials, police, and villagers from both factions. Sop Moei District Officer Kamphan Mokethai said he hopes the ceremony will enable the two sides to live in harmony, obey the law, and bring lasting justice, happiness, and confidence to the community.

Thai Health Promotion Foundation Defends Committee Appointment Process

The spokesperson for the Thai Health Promotion Foundation said the appointment of its plan‑management committee follows regulations and is not a self‑appointed process, noting that the Deputy Prime Minister, not the deputy board chair, signed the order. He added that the foundation evaluates its performance every five years and reviews its 10‑year strategy, having undergone two external evaluations that praised its innovative work. The governance structure places the Prime Minister as board chair, with day‑to‑day authority delegated to the Deputy Prime Minister.

Revenue Dept's Outbound Tax Plan Hits Thai Tourism Stocks

Asia Plus says the Revenue Department’s proposal to charge 1,000 baht per outbound flight could dent short‑term confidence in Thai tourism stocks. The fee would add roughly 1,450 baht to the cost of a typical overseas trip, though analysts expect the impact on travel demand and hotel occupancy to be modest. The measure is still under public consultation and would take years to implement, if approved.
