On September 7, a 77-year-old woman drove a Mercedes approximately one kilometre the wrong way on the inbound lanes of Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, endangering other road users. On October 9, the Northern Bangkok Municipal Court sentenced her to two months in jail and an 8,000‑baht fine, but reduced the penalty by half after she pleaded guilty, resulting in a one‑month jail term and a 4,000‑baht fine, both suspended for two years with one year of probation. She must report to a probation officer three times, complete 12 hours of community service, have her driver’s licence suspended for six months, and the Mercedes will be confiscated.
