Ex-Rock Singer Defrauded of Millions in Fake Concert Scheme
A former rock singer lost millions of baht after a woman hired him to organize a concert event then refused payment, while other victims including youth football teams were defrauded through a scheme falsely invoking a prominent politician'
On September 14, Prakasit Saklavaree, known as Siit Motif and former frontman of a well-known rock band now running an event and concert promotion business, filed a complaint seeking assistance after being defrauded by a woman he previously knew. She hired him to organize an event allegedly connected to a prominent politician's name, but after completing the work, refused to pay according to contract, causing losses of several million baht to him and his team.
Siit explained that the suspect was a former colleague from an old company, which led him to trust her as a peer and forgo collecting an advance deposit. She frequently invoked prominent figures to assure payment would be made, so he proceeded with the full event. Ultimately, she became unreachable and refused to pay, forcing him to use personal funds to cover staff expenses first.
Additional victims have emerged, particularly parents and around 10 youth football teams who were tricked into registering for competitions, with some losing over 300,000 baht. Recruitment posters falsely cited the prominent politician's name to build credibility. Siit confirmed after contacting the politician that his name was used without permission or involvement.
Background checks on the suspect revealed she had already left her previous company and faces allegations of document forgery and multiple outstanding vehicle loan installments with finance companies. Siit warned the event industry to always use written contracts, collect at least 50% deposits, and pursue legal action. He has filed a formal complaint with investigators and urged other victims to gather evidence and pursue the case to completion.
