Forged Documents Expose Lieutenant's Fraudulent Transfer to Ko Libong

On 17 September 2026, following disclosure by the Strong Anti-Corruption Thailand network, Trang provincial authorities disclosed that a second lieutenant had transferred to the position of legal officer at Ko Libong Subdistrict Municipality in Kantang District, Trang, using forged documents. The officer claimed to hold a rank in the 4th Infantry Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, and submitted what appeared to be official transfer authorization letters. However, investigation revealed multiple forged documents, including falsified military service certificates, rank diplomas, and signatures of military commanders at the captain level from the 18th Infantry Battalion.

Theeraphon Siripukmananth, secretary to the Trang Provincial Subdistrict Municipality Committee, announced that the provincial authorities immediately contacted Nakhon Sawan Subdistrict Municipality—the officer's claimed previous employer—and the Army Personnel Department to verify the individual's military service record and legitimacy of credentials. The Ko Libong subdistrict head filed a complaint at Kantang Police Station. Orders were issued to the Kantang District Officer and Ko Libong subdistrict head to establish a fact-finding committee to investigate the individual's previous service, educational qualifications, and supporting documents.

Theeraphon stated that the Trang Subdistrict Municipality Committee would convene on 18 September to revoke the officer's transfer appointment. He confirmed that all standard procedures and legal requirements for civil service transfer were followed in the initial hiring, and acknowledged that document forgery is technically possible but difficult to detect. He emphasized that no organized scheme was suspected, as the individual worked alone without any accompanying network, and assured that no systematic transfer fraud operation exists in Trang Province.
