Four Din Daeng Police Officers Face Inquiry Over Gambling Raid
Four Din Daeng police officers face a misconduct inquiry after a major gambling raid in Bangkok's Din Daeng District resulted in 53 arrests and seizure of nearly one million baht in cash and chips.
On September 24, 2025, Police General Worasakdi Pisitbhanangkun, commander of Metropolitan Police Bureau 1, signed order 203/2569 establishing a fact-finding committee on September 23, 2025. The investigation follows a major gambling operation that took place around 6:30 p.m. the same day, when Deputy Interior Minister Varasiths Liangprasit and Interior Ministry Director-General Narucha Khosasivlai led the DOPA S.W.A.T unit and administrative personnel in a coordinated raid code-named "Multiple Lightning Strike on Din Daeng Gambling Den." The operation targeted a rental room on Pracha Songkram Soi 14, Branch 11, in Din Daeng District, Bangkok, following complaints of illegal gambling.
Police arrested 53 suspects: 45 players (26 men, 23 women) and 7 organizers (6 men, 2 women). No individual claimed ownership of the gambling den. Seized items included 350,000 baht in cash, approximately 635,000 baht in poker chips, high-tech dice equipment, gaming instruments, betting ledgers, and numerous other gambling supplies. All suspects were referred to Din Daeng Station for further legal proceedings.
The fact-finding committee, chaired by Deputy Commander Somsak Iamim, will investigate whether the arrests involved any misconduct or improper involvement by officers. The committee also includes four other senior investigators from the bureau's examination unit. Metropolitan Police Bureau 1 simultaneously issued order 204/2569 reassigning four Din Daeng Station officers—including Station Commander Phassit Katuengngan and three others—to the bureau's operations center pending the investigation's outcome. Another senior investigator was designated to assume temporary command responsibilities.
