Good Samaritan Assaulted After Helping Abused Woman, Case Stalled
A man was brutally beaten by a gang of seven after helping a Burmese woman escape domestic violence in Nakhon Pathom province, but police have made no arrests three months later despite evidence and witness identification.
A 31-year-old man has filed a complaint after being brutally assaulted for helping a neighboring Burmese woman who was being beaten by her Burmese husband. When the woman fled with her injured child seeking help on March 11, 2024, the man intervened, called police, and accompanied the mother and child to hospital. The next day, the husband returned with seven people on motorcycles and in a car, beating the man with punches and kicks to the left ear, attempting to stab him with a knife before his wife intervened and the attackers fled.
The incident occurred in Samkhoei Phueak subdistrict, Muang district, Nakhon Pathom province. After the attack, the man received threatening calls from someone claiming close connections to a retired police officer. He filed a complaint at Samkhoei Phueak Police Station with complete evidence including medical certificates, CCTV footage, and clear identification and photographs of the assailants.
More than three months have now passed with no arrests or charges filed against any of the suspects. The husband who hired the gang remains at large in the area, leaving the family living in fear of local influence and intimidation.
