Thailand and Bhutan launched a joint wellness tourism campaign at an international travel expo in Tokyo to promote linked travel routes between the two countries. The initiative combines Thailand's luxury spa and health services with Bhutan
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) launched the 'HEALING & HAPPINESS: Discover a Better You' campaign at the Thailand pavilion opening ceremony of Tourism EXPO Japan 2026 (TEJ 2026) at Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo, Japan. The event was graced by Namgyal Dorji, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Employment of Bhutan, H.E. Vestop Namgyel, Ambassador of Bhutan to India, and Thapanee Kiatyapibool, TAT Governor, along with other executives from both countries, to promote linked travel between Thailand and Bhutan and showcase the wellness tourism potential of both nations to international quality travelers.
Thapanee Kiatyapibool, TAT Governor, stated that the tourism cooperation between Thailand and Bhutan builds on a Memorandum of Understanding on tourism cooperation signed on 26 June 2024, aiming to raise awareness, promote marketing and public relations, and develop linked tourism routes between the two countries under the concept 'Two Kingdoms, One Destination'. The campaign presents the wellness and mindfulness tourism strengths of both nations, which complement each other despite having different identities and experiences. Thailand positions itself as a global luxury wellness destination under the concept 'Healing is the New Luxury', blending quality relaxation with premium wellness services, international spa standards, holistic health care and modern medical innovation, combined with cultural, culinary and lifestyle attractions. Bhutan stands out by offering experiences that reconnect travelers with nature, mind and spirit through simple living, culture and the Gross National Happiness philosophy. The collaboration aims to provide comprehensive travel experiences covering physical rejuvenation, health care and spiritual enrichment, reflecting a commitment to quality tourism that prioritizes well-being and meaningful travel, targeting high-value travelers seeking transformative experiences.
