Thailand and Bhutan Launch Wellness Tourism Campaign
Thailand and Bhutan launched a joint wellness tourism campaign at Tourism EXPO Japan 2026, promoting linked travel routes that combine Thailand's luxury spa and health services with Bhutan's spiritual and nature-based experiences.
On September 24, the Tourism Authority of Thailand launched a joint tourism campaign with Bhutan titled "Healing & Happiness: Discover a Better You" under the concept "Two Kingdoms, One Destination" at Thailand's pavilion opening during Tourism EXPO Japan 2026 at Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo, Japan. The event was attended by Namgyal Dorji, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Employment of Bhutan, H.E. Vestop Namgyel, Ambassador of Bhutan to India, and TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatyapibool, along with executives from both countries launching the campaign to promote linked travel between Thailand and Bhutan and present their wellness tourism potential to international markets.
TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatyapibool stated that the collaboration builds on a tourism cooperation Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 26, 2024, aiming to raise awareness, market and publicize tourism, and develop linked travel routes between the two countries under the "Two Kingdoms, One Destination" concept to increase market opportunities and expand quality tourist bases across Asia and beyond.
The "Healing & Happiness: Discover a Better You" campaign showcases the wellness and mindfulness tourism strengths of both nations. Thailand positions itself as a world-class luxury wellness destination under the concept "Healing is the New Luxury," blending quality leisure with premium wellness services, international spa standards, holistic health care, and modern medical innovation, connected to cultural charm, cuisine, and diverse lifestyles. Bhutan stands out for experiences that reconnect travelers with nature, mind, and spirit through simple living, culture, and the Gross National Happiness philosophy. The collaboration links the two kingdoms into one destination, creating travel experiences spanning physical healing and health care to spiritual fulfillment, reflecting the promotion of quality tourism emphasizing well-being and meaningful travel. The initiative also targets high-potential markets, particularly Japan, before expanding to Europe and America, showcasing the distinct yet complementary appeal of both destinations from physical healing to spiritual enrichment.
