Fire Destroys Nora Artist's Home, Damages Exceed 300,000 Baht
A fire destroyed the home of Nora artist Phinyot Songhiang in Phatthalung on September 25, causing over 300,000 baht in damage to the single-story residence. Officials suspect an electrical short circuit started the blaze in a storage room
At 2:30 a.m. on September 25, firefighters and emergency response teams from Phatthalung Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation responded to a house fire in Khuan Maprao subdistrict, Muang district, Phatthalung. The single-story residence, divided into a hall and approximately three rooms connected to a kitchen, had intense flames consuming the central storage room, which contained incense, candles, religious items, cardboard boxes, curtains, and other supplies, as well as a computer room.
Firefighters spent considerable time spraying water to control the blaze. Initial damage assessments showed severe destruction in the storage area with the ceiling collapsed and numerous items including computers, air conditioning units, and equipment destroyed by fire. Preliminary damage estimates exceed 300,000 baht.
According to the owner, 38-year-old Phinyot, known as Nora artist Phinyot Songhiang, he was away on business at the time. A relative staying in the house smelled smoke, found the fire raging in the storage room, and immediately called for help. The owner initially suspects an electrical short circuit sparked the blaze, though officials are still investigating the exact cause. No injuries or deaths were reported, and authorities continue to determine the precise cause and final damage assessment.
