House Fire Destroys Home, Seven Escape Safely
A house fire in Ban Dan Kham destroyed a home completely on August 9, with seven residents escaping safely after flames erupted from an electrical outlet in the storage room.
On August 9, 2026, officers from Mueang Mukdahan Police Station responded to a residential fire in Ban Dan Kham. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames billowing from the house. Despite rapid response efforts, the blaze completely destroyed the structure, leaving only the frame and some support columns standing.
The homeowner, 57-year-old Nang Tiem, reported that around 2:00 PM her granddaughter noticed smoke coming from an electrical outlet in the storage room. When she investigated, she found flames already burning intensely. The fire spread rapidly throughout the house, forcing all seven occupants to flee for their lives before firefighters arrived and brought the situation under control.
The incident location was in a narrow alley that prevented large fire trucks from accessing the house directly, hampering firefighting efforts. The flames also reached an adjacent grain storage building, destroying approximately 100 sacks of rice—roughly 5 tons in total. No injuries were reported.
Authorities are conducting a detailed investigation into the fire's cause. Preliminary evidence points to an electrical fault as the likely origin, though further examination by relevant agencies is underway to confirm the exact cause.
