Influencer's Infection From Shaving Turns Severe, Requires Surgery

A 28-year-old influencer has shared a shocking experience after shaving her bikini line resulted in an ingrown hair and infection that rapidly escalated into a crisis. What began as a small bump resembling a boil in August quickly transformed into a swollen, red, and hardened mass nearly the size of an iPhone 16 Pro Max, spreading from the bikini line to her buttocks within days.

British content creator Christie Collins initially thought it was just a routine ingrown hair. After she squeezed the bump, the condition worsened dramatically. Within days, she experienced severe symptoms including dizziness, disorientation, hearing problems, and fainting spells. Although prescribed antibiotics, the wound became increasingly hot and painful. Her concerned friends urged her to seek hospital care.

Doctors diagnosed her with bloodstream infection and performed emergency surgery lasting about an hour to remove the infected tissue. Collins spent five days hospitalized and continues taking antibiotics and visiting doctors daily for wound care. She temporarily lost the ability to manage daily activities independently.

Using her social media platform, Collins now warns others shaving the bikini line not to ignore ingrown hairs or bumps. She urges anyone experiencing swelling, redness, heat, pain, or pus to seek immediate medical evaluation, as these may signal infection that requires prompt professional treatment.
