Interior Ministry Moves Four Bodies From Illegal Jewish Cemetery
Four bodies were moved from an illegally operating cemetery in Chachoengsao to Chonburi province on September 15, as authorities investigate suspected violations at the unlicensed burial ground dating back years.
Deputy Interior Minister Peer Suwannachawi announced on September 15 that at 5:00 a.m., staff from Chachoengsao cemetery transferred all four bodies to Chonburi province cemetery. Officials were ordered to supervise the operation due to concerns that bodies might be switched, as the deceased's widow had requested to move remains for a ceremony despite them already being buried. Both provinces have been notified and instructed to oversee the process.
Peer stated that on September 14, an Interior Ministry ad hoc committee ordered the Department of Local Administration to compile a complete list of all cemeteries and funeral grounds nationwide within three days. Once received, licenses will be verified against the "Chachoengsao model" for enforcement action. Investigation of Chachoengsao cemetery revealed suspected violations dating to 2564, with documentation lacking proper evidence of legitimate establishment, confirmed through Google Earth imagery showing water sources predating the cemetery's claim.
Peer outlined plans to meet with Deputy Prime Minister Supakij Sudthamaphan, Justice Minister Rutthapol Naorawat, and officials from the National Police Office and Anti-Money Laundering Office to discuss foreign nominees, visas, and related enforcement across 30–40 ongoing days of operations. The ministry has identified over 2,000 corporate nominees holding Thai land, with more than 10,000 additional suspect entities worth over 80 billion baht. Regarding deportations of Israeli and French nationals, no appeals have been filed yet, and immigration authorities are holding them pending deportation within seven days if no legal action is initiated.
