Kanchanaburi Suffers Worst Flooding in 30 Years, Aid Mobilized
Kanchanaburi is experiencing its worst flooding in 30 years, with water reaching chest height in many areas. Thousands of officials and volunteers are providing meals, delivering food by truck, and setting up field kitchens that operate from early morning until late at night. The Ministry of Education is also sending vocational teams to repair damaged appliances and vehicles free of charge, while coordinating health supplies and using the Traffy Fondue system to streamline relief efforts.
Akkanat added that the Ministry of Education is coordinating with the Public Health Ministry to supply mosquito repellent, hand‑foot‑mouth disease medicine, and skin‑treatment drugs for those exposed to stagnant water. For post‑flood recovery, vocational education technical teams will repair electrical appliances, vehicles and other equipment free of charge to ease the public’s burden. The Ministry will also use the ‘Traffy Fondue’ system to collect reports and assign tasks to repair teams quickly and broadly. He stressed that the Ministry’s role goes beyond education; in crises it will mobilize all resources to help people in every dimension, both during the disaster and after the waters recede, so affected residents can recover and resume normal life as soon as possible.
